DCR will honor your reservation for sure. They seemed like straight forward guys to me.

Here is what I got from DCR. Hope it sticks. Might upgrade to 355 if there is one sitting there all lonely. Maybe I'll get your yellow one Fred.

    Jim,
You are set for a Ferrari 348 on April 11 at 8am for 5 hours at our office next
    to the Boardwalk Hotel.
You will need to come to our office to pickup the car.

    Thank you

Sometimes I wonder whether these places (RAV, DCR) read this board or not. If push comes to shove mentioning this forum might help you with your deal: "Listen, if I don't get the car I reserved, hundreds if not thousands of people will hear about it on FChat. SO: When did you say can I get my 360?"
    :)

I reserved online and in the comments section I put that I heard about them via ferrarichat. Not sure if it carries any weight or alerts them to this board or shows me to be a legitimate car lover. actually thought they might decide to advertise here if they knew about it.

when I rented there a couple of weeks ago I had asked if they ever check this place out. They didn't seem to be all that interested in Ferraris in general. I would expect someone that is atleast semi-interested in F-cars to want to talk about them with someone that has the same interest but they were very uninterested in talking about F-cars with the exception of letting me know what happened to their 360 coupe (wrecked) and before that someone rented it for an entire week and brought it back with only 30 miles on the odo

Jim, have fun w/ the car!! Make sure you get EVERY penny worth while driving it!!! If you end up stretching for the 355, try to leave some clutch & tread on the car for me to burn off. Too bad we will miss each other by a few days! I'm coming in on Tuesday evening (the 13th).

1 thing to keep in mind is that they mentioned something about a rev limiter that kicks in if you try and burn the back tires if you hit it the car shuts down and it is end of the rental. I asked about it out of curiosity and the guy said something to the fact of getting sick of buying tires for those cars.

Well, i'm going to be in Vegas the week of the 12th myself... Was thinking about trying out an F-car myself from DCR. Looks like i'm too late?? haha... Hey Andreas, that 360 sounds awesome to rent for a day, we should plan sometime to do that and split the cost????

Actually, for $1500 in florida, you can take a P-51 Mustang up for an hour with an instructor and learn some dog fighting and acrobatic skills. I almost did that, instead i did the air combat thing in California, what a rush.... :)

DCR has about 3-4 348's and a couple of 355 all spiders. There should be plenty to go around

Haven't done the Mustang thing, but did fly a Russian jet over Moscow, but that's another story.

Tod, that's a good opportunity to try out a 355 or even 348. Work your way up and learn the differences. You got the 328 covered and for a beer you can try out my 308 one day.

TOD, see if you can get a 348 on Wednesday the 14th. I'll have a 355 & we could do the drive together!

Enzo, I sincerely hope that the 'rev limiter' isn't true. I can tell you from personal experince, the 348 I rented there definitely DID NOT have anything like that. Although, they did tell me not to use the A/C b/c they disconnected it so it wouldn't work (to keep the car from overheating). By the way, the A/C worked fine too.

Anyone have any 'rev limiter' experience there???

I never tested the A/C. They did have me sign a sheet stating that the A/C was not connected and it also had the info on the rev limiter stating that if you hit it the car would quit and that was "the end of the rental". I figured that F-cars are not tire burning cars anyways and much more fun pulling from 1st through 3rd pretty good. I guess if someone wants to smoke some tires I guess that is what the vipers are there for and maybe the 68 Camaro (but I couldn't do that to that car as it was a very nice example)

Hey Fred, sounds like a plan. I have to find out what my buddies have planned for the week to do though. Will let you know, plus i have to see where we are staying, i noticed DCR need to know that. What time frame on the 14th are you renting it from?? I'm figuring just do the 5 hour thing...

Just thinking about this, DCR offers you the car for 5 hours and only 75 miles. That means, if you want to stay to that, you can only do 15 mph... hmmmmm????? I think i will for sure be paying a lot of $1/mile over... :)

If you do the Hoover dam or the Red Rock Canyon you're just inside the 5 hours and inside the 75 miles.

DCR does one odd thing: They give you the car with an empty tank, so you better have them show you where the fuel cap switch is.

Tod, I'm anxious to hear from you how the 348 (Spider!!!) compares to your 328. Personally I think they are worlds apart. But hey, the 348 prices came down nicely so it might be time for an upgrade somewhere down the line?

I was thinking more on the lines of a Testarossa. Not as an upgrade, but an addition to the family.... :)

They got a TR at DCR as well. Driving that is so different from the 8 cyl cars that it is not a competition, but an addition as you say. That'd be actually the best of both worlds: One of each.

    Well, I'm back!!!

We rented the yellow/black 355 spider at DCR in Las Vegas. We drove the red-rock canyon loop as well as plenty of around town and Las Vegas area driving.

    Absolutely awesome time!!!

I hope to have some pictures soon.

I was just in Vegas last Sunday (early) driving my 355 from Houston to SF. The turn coming out of the Bellagio Valet lot onto the strip is a lot of fun. With a certain amount of throttle you can be going mostly sideways down the strip. :)

When I was in Vegas we went into that store in the Venetian and I asked if I could take a picture of that Enzo and the lady said "NO!" I was quite surprised at her reaction I told her to get bent and left

I saw those models too. I'd say "don't ask for permission, ask for forgiveness" and just discreetly snap the photos adn keep walking.

I had a bum try to beg change off me at a gas station we stopped at for water. I said no and he says "c'mon man, you're driving a ferrari" I say, I don't own it I rented it. He shrugs his shoulders.
