Good Experience on Paintwork

My front hood was returned by painter who made a house call Sunday to install it and do some final touchup on the headlight buckets. The painter is Rich Thayer of R & J Customs formerly in Buckley now in Enumclaw. This is his first Ferrari. He normally does very exotic street rods and is sought after by many in the southend who are into that stuff. (Some street Rods can cost as much as our Ferraris.) He initially did a wonderfull job on my front bumper because he took it down to the base primer repaired all the scrapes and built it up with a black primer, then a black base coat, and about 9 layers of clear. The hood and the headlight buckets he only spot repaired the big rock chips/dents I had, because he didn't want to re-do the entire lid because for the most part it was fine as you all know. He patched it and wet sanded it down and shot a base coat and 9 layers of clearcoat last summer. This application at the time was too soft to block out so he told me come back in 6 months when it hardened. He blocked it out again and its amazing. You can't tell where the dings were. It looks as good as new. There is not a scratch or swirl mark on it and that's on a black car. Now that he's done this, he's down the learning curve on Ferraris and I recommend him to anybody with a black car. Just PM me if you want his number.
