    Hello,

I love to drive on secondary roads, but my TomTom GPS is really not convenient for this (not enough waypoints, cannot save a trip, cannot track a trip and discrepancies with google map). I usually plan my trip with google map so can I check the road width (!) and how it looks. I thought that using an ipad might be cool, but which app? And which system to hold it?

    Thanks!

I think there is a new garmin for motorcycles that has a windy road feature. Unfortunately I don't think its available for their auto GPS.

It would be nice to have what you are suggesting. Got to be an iphone app...

I use a Garmin Nuvi 2455. Bought it at Costco for about $130. I load routes into it using a free motorcycle routing software called 'tyre'. It lets you use google maps to route as many waypoints as you like, and then load the route with a name saved to your Garmin. To start the route, you click on 'apps' and 'routing' I think to find the saved route on the Garmin. The best way to make a route is to make a waypoint just after you want to turn on each road. Tyre works with both Tomtom and Garmin, but some units don't accept more than a handful of waypoints. I have never had a problem with my Garmin unit.

Great tip! Its frustrating to create a route in Google maps and then have Google or the Nuvi or whatever system you're using "fix" it when you don't have enough waypoints to force the route on your preferred route. The Nuvi software makes loading and using routes pretty easy from Google or MS Streets and Trips software, once you realize its only loading waypoints, not the actual map or route you saw in the software on your computer..

Has anyone tried the Garmin StreetPilot on their phone? It seems like it would do what OP wants, and works on all common cellular devices (even Windows Phone!). I like how the Garmin software works, the instructions are clear and they anticipate and alert you to turns well. I've used the Nuvi in the US and Europe and its great. But it'd be even more cool if this software works as well as the Nuvi: only need to carry my tablet and cell phone. If this software can store sufficient waypoints, it'll be perfect.
