    Hi,
I am looking for a good mechanic in Hinsdale/Chicago area to do a pre purchase inspection for a 1973 Daytona coupe. Do you have a shop that you would recommend?
    thanks for your help

Continental Autosports in Hinsdale would be my recommendation. They are a Ferrari dealer and have an excellent service shop. Their telephone number is 630-655-3535.

I, too, would recommend Tod at Continental but I don't think this helps much as I am pretty sure the Daytona you are looking at is the one that is for sale BY Continental. In order to get a truly fair, unbiased opinion of the car, you may want to fly in your own guy from a place closer to where you live, and/or the mechanic you will be using to do the maintenance if you end up buying it.

BTW, that is a cool looking car. Not a blue color that you see very often.

A relative of mine (deceased) had one of the town homes right out the front door of Fond de la Tour (if it is still there...)
Should have bought that condo.... (1996)

Lake Forest is good (847-295-6560) as well as Autosprint (Giovanni@773-685-0930) for the Daytona PPI.

Fond da La Tour is gone, but I am on the top floor of that building. Reza's has been the restuarant there for the last year or so. Would have much preferred an Italian resturant in there instead. :)

Well, personally I wouldn't have minded if the French occupation continued. Bon Appetite!

It would have been nice if Fond de la Tour would have stayed there; they closed a while ago and the resturant was vacant when I moved into the building about three years ago.

    Hi Mike,
Agreed and while I do love Italian food, there just never seems to be enough French Restaurants around.

"Fond de la Tour" was there for a very long time, and was very popular. Wonder why they went out? Also had "Henri's" in the Oakbrook Shopping Center many years ago. The only French Restaraunt around here now, is "Mon Ami Gabi" in the Oakbrook Shopping Center. And "Bistro Banlieue" by Yorktown Shopping Center in the Strip, on the North side. It is supposed to be very good. Haven't checked it out yet, though...

Oh well....see all of those other new Restaraunts that are going up on the South side of 22nd.St.? And in the S.W. Corner of Yorktown? 22nd. St. is going to be nuts!

I am close to you too. Spring Road is one of my favorite drives...:)

Hey, does anyone know what ever happend to that little Tavern that used to be there right across the road from Graue Mill? It was called "The Village Gate". It had a nice picture window that looked over the Salt Creek Waterfall. The guy that owned it, Bill, always said that he was never going to sell. And, I go by there a year or so ago, and it was completely gone....

I see that they are rebuilding that other one that is right around the corner on York Rd., too.

Joe has been working on 365s since he Preped them new.

He has been with LFSC for over 20+ years.

    Drexle is the Service Manager.

If I owned one, this is where I would go.

Have not been there in years... but was EXCELLENT!

My deceased relative was a great man... traditional Irish Catholic, never married (so my family was his family). He ate out 5-6 nights / week, living in his Oakbrook condo for 25+ years. He knew every maitre de (SP???) within a 10 mile radius! No 2 hour waits for us on a Friday or saturday night back in the day!
All you guys in that hood... remember Mr. Hobo's? (Now - if still there - the Pepper Mill). My brother did his taxes in maybe 1994 - he had spent over 11K alone at Mr. Hobo's that year!

and now back to the action...

Joe @ LFSC works on my lowley 308.... He is a great guy, knows his **** backwards and forwards. Every time I "happen" by LFSC, he shows me a thing or two (e.g. valves on a TR engine out, fuel pump on an Enzo, brakes on a 330... etc). Want an honest opinion? he's certainly at the top of the list!

FerrariFrank, whereabouts are you at? I'm home in Hinsdale a few days a week because of travelling for work/business. You're absolutely right, Spring Rd is beautiful especially in the Fall!

I am just North of 22nd St., and West of 83 in Oakbrook Terrace. Grew up in South Elmhurst, though.

I also take my son over to Fullersburg Woods alot for Walks and the Nature Center. He loves the Mastodon Skeleton that is there. And Old Graue Mill. I've been going there since I was his age too.

Also, friendly Deer all over the place, usually at Dusk.

We saw a similar car when we were down in Indy for the F1 USGP. Rick, his Cousin, Frankie & I went Downtown in the evening for a really great car show. And there was a Blue Daytona there. Wonder if it may have been the same car? I am betting that there aren't (weren't?) a whole heck of alot of these made in Blue, let alone being here in the Midwest....?
