The Boss wasn't starting. Greg, Ron, and I spent a little time on it, but figured out it was above our pay grade, but maybe not worth expensive tow to a shop. I found a local mobile mechanic out of mid-cities who had some vintage Mustang experience.

He came out last night and was great! He quickly diagnosed the problem as a burnt up broken original ignition switch. He drove over to Irving and got the part. When he got back he was good enough to recognize the ignition switch being sold by all auto parts stores even Dallas Mustang was incorrect for the 1970. It was a subtle difference, but could have bad consequences because of loose fit and heat generation. the 1970 was a unique year with 2 of the 7 ignition pins larger, everyone is selling a switch harness with 7 similar sized pins.

he then took the old and new harness to his shop and professionally cut, soldered, and shrink wrapped the new switch to the original correct 7 pin case.

prices were extremely reasonable. Although his name is "Toni" he hasn't worked on Italians before. His experience is American classics and modern domestics and foreign. Trust me, he's really really good and I would trust him with my Italians too for standard work if car stranded in garage.

If your daily driver or classic is stranded in the garage for something where expensive tow isn't worth it, then I would recommend Toni at Travelin Tool Box.

I just spent about 10 minutes flipping through all of his recent repairs on his website.

I'll call him next time my F150 needs something. Thanks Rob!
