    Hi All

I have been dreaming up ways to afford a Ferrari and have come up with the idea of a Ferrari as a billboard by wrapping it with advertising.

Does this make you boil with anger or think it is a good idea. If my website plan works out I would hope to buy a new F430 but if it works out to a lesser degree I would be looking at a used machine and as the idea was sparked from Superman III maybe a 308. If it only barely works out I will be wrapping my ford escort wagon ;-)

What other models would you like to see wrapped or absolutely not wraped?

Any opinon welcome. May be this is a case were flames should be allowed.

    ready for comments...phil

There used to be (and probably still are) companies that will match up willing car owners with advertisers. They paid based on miles driven, etc and I think one even used a GPS to determine how far and where you drove for exposure. I understand you could make up to $300/mo at it, but that might have been during the dot com bubble, I don't recall the time frame. Good luck.

yeh well that kind of sparked the idea as well.

Its a combination of the milldollarhompage, Superman III and commercial carwrap.

And then I go on an old style US publicity tour. I have the plan up and running from yesterday at www.ferraribillboard.com

Ha maybe I should give Marlboro a call..phil

I remember seeing those when I lived in AZ. I'm not sure I quite understand what his plan is, though? Can't afford a Ferrari now, so you plan to buy one and wrap it with advertising in the hopes that it will make up for the difference that you can't afford?

Why not wrap a Mini Cooper or something along those lines - it will still attract just as much attention, and with the money (assuming there's still some to be made there), buy a Ferrari of your own that you don't have to don with stickers and wraps and all sorts of other ***** that will detract from your overall enjoyment of the car. You want a Ferrari, afterall - not a rolling circus.

I like your thinking. Be aware that some of these companies might be a little leery knowing you don't have the vehicle. It would sound like a scam.

    Good luck!

ah yeh. I tried to be as honest about that as I could in the rules...

The final model of Ferrari for the billboard will be based on the success of the project.
0–199 squares sold: Web only billboard.
200–1,999 squares sold: I wrap my Ford Escort wagon.
2,000–14,999 squares sold: I wrap a used Ferrari and take it on a tour.
15,000–20,000 squares sold: I wrap a Ferrari F430 or similar and take it on a grand tour.

Of course the whole think is a crazy idea but hopefully that is the appeal. Might even shoot a documentary about the whole thing if it starts working.

At least so far no one is boiling mad at the rape of a Ferrari ;-)

There are a lot of "other" cost to owing a ferrari well beyond the orginal purchase price...please put this in your "equation/business plan".

    Iteresting idea nonetheless...

Yes I am currently thinking the ferrari should be half of the value raised. So just to start with. What is a wild guess for insurance on an F430, 39 year old no bad history in California.

I must go and find out...phil

If you're in the correct geographic market, I'd pay for some advertising space -- you pricing however, is not realistic unless you have specific shows and venues you can document. What happens if you wrap the car around a tree or it is off the road for repair, or maintenance? Will it be parked outside at all times?

    PM or email me.

Most of us Ferrari owners are at least a little quirky, so go for it!
If it goes ahead and you get a Ferrari with a hundred ads, please post some pics.
