Our old Linksys is on its last legs. This is our 2nd Linksys. I want try other brands for once. What's a good one out there? Here's the requirements: NO Belkin: Horrible range, I've had two that were DOA NO D-Link: Broken antenna on open, DOA also NO NetGear: Dead within 15 minutes of setting up A USB port would be good for sharing a printer over the network. Is Buffalo any good? I'm leaning toward an Airport Extreme by Apple, but since now they've come out with Time Capsule, which will backup my Macbook over the air, I'm looking at that. Anyone have an Airport?
Isn't Buffalo going through a legal difficulty right now? We have one client considering Zyxel to replace their Buffalo product. Also have another client augmenting his Airport Extreme's with a dedicated firewall - which greatly improved his Internet performance. But he's a heavy user. We've had nothing but problems with the last gen Airport in school environments, pure chaos - don't know what Apple was thinking on that one. Probably would work fine for limited home use. PS: you've had more experience than 99.99% of the Fchat reader base
No idea on their standings, but I have one of their terrastations under my desk. It doesn't work well as a footstool, nor a drive array either.
http://www.buffalotech.com/press/releases/buffalo-issues-a-statement-about-the-csiro-appeal/ Due to the foregoing reasons, Buffalo believes that the Court of Appeals will ultimately issue a decision in Buffalos favor, finding CSIROs patent invalid and not infringed and vacating the injunction. Buffalo expects that a decision will be obtained within the next 7-12 months Under the current circumstances, however, Buffalo is obliged to stop shipment of Wireless-LAN products until the case is decided on its merits and the injunction lifted. Buffalo sincerely regrets the necessity of this action.
