I'd include the Barret Jackson auctions in the former group.
I'm glad to have found this thread as unless anything the wife will miss is included in the package containing Speed I'l be dropping it as well. At least until F1 returns.

I, too, am recently married and moved to a new place, but still haven't got cable hooked up. My only real reason for it was for the races, but it's pointless to pay that much just for Speed. I truly miss SpeedVision and hope somebody can make a replacement. All I can say is that I'm thankful for the wonders of the internet and the downloading it offers me.

I always thought it was odd that you could find all kinds of religious programming on the big dish, but something like Speedvision didnt make enough money to make anyone happy. Greed is the only reason that Speedvision begat Speed, and its greed that keeps that channel focused on Hillbilly intelligence.

Do they have a Statue of Earnhardt Sr. as Jesus on the cross in the lobby???? :D

I enjoy watching the F1 Races on SPEEDHD. I also watch MOTO GP.

My biggest complaint - When they have had races here in the States, they aren't on Speed channel. WTF! I could care less if the big networks show it or not. I would rather watch it on Speed Channel on the day it happens, not a week later.

I am tired of all the other useless CRAP that they have brought onboard. WTF does WRECKED have to do with Speed? PINKS is atleast about Speed. Or atleast it would be if they would stop show a bunch of crybaby men complaining about sandbaggin' every time they go down the track. How 'bout someone tossen them some kneepads givin them a nice TEABAG! I am so sick of that prick on UNIQUE WHIPS. They definately are not Unique to me. All they know hoe to do is BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP! SUPERCARS EXPOSED could have been WAY better. I saw the episode with Tony Kanaan a few weeks back. It was decent. I also saw that episode of the cars out at the Military Base too. I DON'T WANT TO WATCH HEADLIGHTS EITHER! LIVIN' THE LOWLIFE??? I haven't even bothered with watchin' that. I don't care how hot that @ss is that Vida has. Now they have HOT IMPORT NIGHTS. Atleast they showed a Lambo Gallardo Spyder that some hottie owns. I was hopin to see more Hot Babes on that show, but they fell very short on that hope. I think I'll stop now!!!!

Does anyone remember the old Speedvision series that profiled races from the past? I think David Hobbs hosted it. Amazing footage - I guess Speed owns it now because I never see it anywhere else. Since they are NASCAR-focused, they should release those shows to someone that will properly use them.

Interestingly, the Wikipedia entry on Speed Channel said the old president is trying to start a new channel called The Racing Network, which will reportedly be closer to the original. Here is their website: http://theracingnetwork.com.

Roger Warner who founded ESPN and then Speedvision was "supposed" to start a new sports channel specifically in line with the old Speedvision. I have met him several times and once again last year at Cavalino and the word was it was still going to happen. However, that was before all the "shiiit hit the fan" in the world economy.

If anyone can do it, it would be Roger.

Yes, it was called Legends of Motorsport. I have every one of them on dvd, transferred from VHS. Love to watch them, especially now that there is no racing available.

I remember when Speedvision first hit the airwaves, and it was AWESOME! It was pretty much the only channel I watched. It had everything you wanted, airplanes, boats, and cars. There was a Euro motorsport report that showed recaps of all the cool racing going on in Europe that you could never hope to see in America, stuff about sailing, airplanes, and Alain de Cadenet getting buzzed by a Spitfire and driving some of the coolest cars around on Victory By Design! Not to mention reliable F1 coverage. Then one day it turned into SPEED... For a while it was OK, but it was obvious where it was going. Every so often they used to have some cool stuff like the classic F1 races from the 1980s and 90s, but even that's gone now.

Oh well, the only reason I had cable was to watch F1, and the only reason the girlfriend wanted it was to watch some TV shows, now that F1 season is over and she can watch all her shows for free and with fewer ads to boot on the network websites so we see no reason to fork out money for cable anymore...

I keep pondering in canceling cable altogether but I found I am spoiled. Yes, I can watch the shows online but sitting at my computer or streaming them to TV doesn't do justice when I can watch it in glorious HD. Also, I am impatient, but I will be re-evaluating this. As stated, lots of people are putting their content online maybe I should bite the bullet.

So according to the Hollywood reporter BBC 1 and BBC 2 will now be streaming ALL of their programs live on line starting on November 27th.

So, if this is true, we all should be able to watch their F1 coverage online and in real time. But I do believe you need to pay a "license fee." I'm not sure how much that is but, I guess it's better than giving your money to a channel you don't like.

I have had Speed Hd for a while. The problem is F1 isnt recorded in HD i believe. At least not at all the venues. Is that going to change next year? It should with all the coin Bernie is getting! He wants the latest and greatest in facilities its the least he can do.

I have decided after having the Speed channel for the last several years now to cancel the channel on my Direct TV until next F1 season starts in March. Yes I agree with the majority of you guys about crappy shows that being hosted on Speed including NASCAR which just blows and during the down season of F1 I don't watch it much... Well see ya Speed until next year.

The way I see it Nascar pays for the station that hosts my F1 programs. It could not survive without it.
I can record the F1 prerace show, practice, qualy, and the race then watch it anytime.

SCCA runoffs I'm sure are a total money losing proposition but they continue to host them. And I appreciate it.

Nascar, the Harley bike builders, and the current edition of the Pimp my Car genre pays the bills. I'm can live with that. I just don't watch them, simple really.

SEveral months ago there was a thread on other forums about the founder of Speedvision starting a new, similar set up to what is now SPEED (or lack there of). Any further word on this? I really miss the Aussie Touring Cars.

Holy Crap ! , I like racing to much to pull the plug on 69 Speedvision, but everyone does have a point, and i like drag racing, but Pinks is on too much , but the show Past Time I think is great, along with the SCCA runoffs and a little dirt tracking,is fun to watch , you can`t have everything your way, For me i want to see more boat racing.
