Oh Lotus…… sometimes it seems like you exist just to make Alfa people feel a little better….. it would have been a beast if it didn’t crash after 100ft…..
Audi Revived a Never-Built, 16-Cylinder Supercar From the 1930s The Auto Union Type 52 would have been one of the fastest cars on the planet. But it never made it to production ... until now. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login But don't think this stunning one-off is just a garage queen. Audi will actually run the Type 52 concept at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed with Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen and Hans-Joachim “Strietzel” Stuck behind the wheel. ...Under the hood—er, rear deck—is a mid-mounted, supercharged 16-cylinder engine similar to the one that would have been used in the original car. This version uses a 6.0-liter motor instead of the original blueprint's 4.4-liter engine. Audi also upped the power output from an estimated 200 horsepower to a healthy 512 horsepower https://www.motor1.com/news/726271/audi-16-cylinder-supercar-revival/amp/#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=17207858416239&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com
Mercifully Audi didn't do the recreation as an EV. Marcel is right it does resemble a Tatra and it looks pretty cool. Was Hans Ledwinka involved with the original concept?
Hmm too negative Marcel. The event was really great and on the FoS are mainly very good cars and famous drivers. It is one of the best events I have joint. The Audi -although a remake- was beautiful made and they did not pretend it was original. And best of all they drove with it. Respect for the Fitipaldi Lotus with a helicopter turbine engine with a response time of about 2-3 seconds. So for a chicane you have to break and accelerate at the same time. ciao Oscar
Not negative at all. Just realistic and down to earth. A fake is a fake, a recreation is a recreation, a replica is a replica. I also did not say that anybody pretends it was original. Marcel Massini
How can it be a re-creation if it was never built? I think it's pretty cool that Audi dug this out of the archives and actually built it.
