http://postimage.org/image/25943hktg/ The #14 in the RAC TT Race is David Harts 250 Drogo shared with Michael Bartels according to the programme does any one know anything else about it ?
it was a 1961, 250 GT SWB competizione, s/n 2445GT. it was driven by the duo Georges Berger and Robert Darville at the le mans 24h in 1962 when Robert Darville hit the bank at Arnage corner in the fourth hour making a mess out of the bodywork. the car then went to Piero Drogo and it emerged in 1964 with the current body.
Blue/white 250SWB of Rob Walker's team, that's a really famous car (Sir Stirling Moss)....a new body (Classiche IIRC) but very nice, in memory of Rob Walker (great correspondent to Road & Track when I was but a wee lad.....

With thanks to PauloSF and for any one with any remaining appetite for Goodwood or Ferraris a summary of the history behind 9 of the 10 250 GT variations in the RAC TT Celebration.
I saw it on iplayer last night. Really good race footage and some fantastic driving. Watch the onboard of Martin Brundle driving Nick Mason's GTO in the wet. Highly recommended!
No - the body was made by UK based Grand Prix Metalcraft in 1983. Clasiche have recently done a lot of work, rectifying incorrect change to the chassis, a few corrections to the bodywork, a correct fuel tank sand most importantly a new engine block to replace the non original and incorrect block plus other engine parts.
Thanks for the clarification!!! Alan It was good to see Sir Moss do a few laps in it, at the Factory...don't recall where I read that.
It's shown very briefly in the Fifth Gear episode where Tiff Needell takes Stirling around Fiorano in a 599HGTC. Apparently this was on the same day. There was a lovely article on this car with Jaguar designer Ian Callum, taking an E-Type and this SWB to some Scottish roads in the UK magazine Motorsport. Onno
Don't miss this one. This is as close to the real "old Days" as it gets. I wonder how high the revs got on the GTOs. just one man's opinion tongascrew
The highlights show has been on UK TV. There was also an onboard video posted on Vimeo from one of the DB4GT's in the TT. It's not the greatest video though. I'll find the link later.
Its still on www.itv.com/itvplayer and then type goodwood into the search. Do it soon as I dont know how much longer it will be available.
