This year, the one they are showing on TV. Will be going back with same car as well as an Allard GTP car.

I did not get to watch any of the rallye stage, very cool. Attached is one of my best photos.

Nice shots! Thanks. The F1 cars were doing the smoke shows in the early part of the show. The wets on the F1 cars are for smoke show purpose only a sunny weekend :)

    Great show.

I'd have to disagree with the wets comment. That's really the tire of choice for this short run up the hill. We ran GY rains cause even with tire warmers, there is not enough heat in the tire to get grip.

Fernando was trying to get the TTD and he was on rains. How do I know? I got to meet him and talk with him from meeting the Renault media mgr. Fernando got held up "almost ran into" other F1 cars every run as the guys in front were doing donuts. He was pissed he did not get to smash the record. I think Heidfeld holds the all time record from a few years back. The engineers let me "ask" and actually showed me the engine management system. Uh, I fogot to say, I was behind the ropes with them with the appropriate credential....that's also how I got the cool shots....I'll load some more of the F1 guys.

I bet they give FA extra room this year and weather permitting, Fernando will hold the new record.

Been to the Festival of Speed a couple of years ago and this fall to the Revival of Speed. Both are great events with their unique ambiance. A MUST for any racing fan.

I had an article about the Revival in the last issue of Pilota, including pictures.

I am a member of the Goodwood Road Racing Club and consider the Revival a must every year. Didn't make it last year because of knee replacement surgery, but I intend to be there in September next year. Look around at www.goodwood.co.uk and you will get a good feel for the event.

Have tons of pictures, but alas, not digital (I suppose that goes along with the Goodwood era), but they don't really do the event justice in any case.

Interesting stuff !! I inferred my statement from the show which had an interviewed Button mention they were able to set the car up for the smokey stuff. Then you see him lighting up the wets with the fronts locked. I figured less tread grip, softer rubber make for more smoke.

I'm a GRRC member, too. We missed this year's Revival due to a family wedding, after being there for the three prior years. I already have my tickets and passes for the 2006 event.

    See you there!

What decisions did you make about grandstands, etc? I understand that there have been some improvements since year before last.

Ok, one more time...........wets are for better grip on a Not so race track like setup.

The course is more straights and there is ZERO warm up other than a smokey burnout like drag racing......wets are used because they are the softest compound made period....stickier than qualifying tires.....they are also used on this circuit because there is a lot of debri not usually found on a race track. BTW, during the course of a "wet" race, if it stops raining and the track begins to dry out, a good driver will "find standing water" to cool the tires off so they won't overheat and basically melt "become greasy". Goodwood hill climb is only 1.4 miles long and only has 2 "speed" turns where you could get any temp in the tires...........if you could do 10 runs back to back then maybe you'd have enough grip with slicks.

Goodyear racing slicks have the following rating: 160,210,430,600....160s' being qualifying tires....rains are about 50, intermediates would be around 100

We had to let someone else win the Concours ;-) We'll have something cool at BRIC this year.

No grandstands on Friday, we usually spend the day walking through the paddock and all the way around the circuit, and then satisfying our consumer urges at the booksellers' stalls. We have chicane seats for Saturday and Sunday. I actually prefer watching from behind the fence at the approach to Woodcote or on the berm overlooking Madgwick, but it's nice to have a place to sit. The one disappointing grandstand (for me, at least) is at Lavant. I thought they were a waste of money. I hope it'll be cooler next year!

Yes, they set his car up for donuts as well as the rev's the engines could take. SATO could go wild on his last run because the clutch was shot. BTW, he earned best smokey burnout hands down.

Fernando had his car setup for maximum grip (soft) and new sticky wets as the track is not at all smooth....i.e. if you saw any of the group C cars run the bodywork was jumping all over the place.
