Anyone know if the $400 subscription to GE will provide higher resolution than what I typically get on Google Maps? On GM, the highest res available is often <>2000' AGL. I'm told that GE allows anyone to "read a license plate". 'struth'? On a related note, has anyone noticed that some areas are "blocked", that is to say surrounded by <>2000' view, but the blocked area only allows <>10,000' view? On my island, the area where a 'famous' and extremely wealthy person has a large estate, is completely obscured - no possibility of seeing any detail. Yet 2 miles away above my property, its back to the maximum <> 2000' resolution. Rhetorical question: can money buy Google?
I don't believe so - It allows bigger "exports" and movie creation etc but I think the database resolution is the same. [And there's other ways to get movie functionality....] Not in GE - Close, but not quite - Streetview OTOH would certainly show license plates and faces if they didn't "wash" the pictures first to blur such information. [BTW, Google Maps and Google Earth are two different applications.] Yes - But I thought this was due to when and with what the images were captured - Until recently "my" hillclimb course in the darkest depths of Nevada was really low res. It just recently got "re-imaged" and is now in "full" resolution. - I'd say "be patient" and it'll get there. *That* is surprising - to me at least - I understood that Sergei and the guys were adamant that Earth be complete and free to anyone - Certain exceptions for military bases etc but you can't buy "privacy" from the eye in the sky..... OTOH, it certainly would appear so from your comments - Why don't you post a question in their (very active) forums with the location and ask 'em what's going on? Somewhat related - Barbara Streisand has a pretty neat place on the So Cal coast - She sued (and failed!) the guy who shot the picture (from his chopper) as part of the California Coastal Project which is: http://www.californiacoastline.org/ Cheers, Ian
Have you tried Microsoft's bird's eye view? http://maps.live.com/ It's not available everywhere, but in my particular case Google's resolutions of my area are absolutely horrible (you couldn't make out a house if you were trying) but the bird's eye view works around here. FYI: You need to be zoomed in relatively close before it can be enabled.
