I think it is... and I think Winston Goodfellow took the shot above.

What a great photo. I would love to know the history behind that car.

As I understand it the owner was driving one day out in the beautiful desert. The car started missing slightly and rather than cause potential damage the owner walked home. The next few days were hectic and eventually he completley forgot about the car. It has sat there for years.
I hope that someone can save it but it sure looks rough to me. I bet it would cost a bundle to fix up.

    LOL! :D:D:D

Zach, this car (166 Mille Miglia s/n 0052 M) was owned by a fellow F-Chatter at the time that this photo was taken. There has been much written about it here and elsewhere. Here's something to get you started:

great photo! :) .....definitely has some wear, but seems to me that if it was left alone outside, that wear would be much greater, nor the tires still inflated LOL :)

edit: ^^ read linked thread, intersting find, he doesn't really explain how it was found, but end of thread shows car at concours and being driven, in un-restored condition......very kool to see them only restore what was needed to make the car a driver again, but leave the rest as-is!

You are almost right. This car used to belong to the lead singer of the band America and the whole experience of being stranded was the impetus for this work:

For a little more info, see the first story - http://www.viacorsa.com/. Photo credit should go to Ron Kimball, but looks like someone removed that.

Thank goodness I reserved the right... ;)

Sorry, Ron... should have known. I had some delightful conversations with the eminently talented Mr. K during my stint at a certain collector car magazine.

And a very large "Thank You" to the owner of the subject of the OP for keeping the patina. They're only original once.

The thing I find hilarious about 0052 is its tonneau cover. I love that Mannie has kept the patina.
