So I took the time to adjust the tire pressures on the Ferrari first (the day of the car show), but then I went to do the same on the Maserati. Next thing I know I have a lump in the sidewall of my Michelin Pilot Sport (235/40/18) in the front). That can't be safe....What is it with the French this month? First it was the referendum, then the USGP, and now my front tire?
My car is an 02, sold in December, with only 6K miles. I hope the tire warranty is still good.....Otherwise, they might send me a $100 gift cert to the next Indy F1 race, if there is one...

A lump in the sidewall doesn't sound good at all. Don't drive fast or hard before you get it replaced. I've never had problems with Michelin sidewalls............now Goodyears, that's a different story.

Didn't you read the owner's manual?

It clearly states that the tires are not to be taken on 9 degree banked turns at speeds greater than 48 KPH!

There was a memo or something a while back from Mercedes I read on a forum. Mercedes told their dealers not to install a certain Pilot Sport on their cars.

Again, this is something I read but can not find a link.

I just saw this on a Mercedes forum.

I wonder if there have been problems that the public hasn't heard of.

If you find out, I'd like to know. I was thinking of putting these on my car.

I found a few TSB's for different model Mercedes Titled: Tires - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S(R) Tires Not Approved

    B/c I'm not a subscriber I can't read them.

I have no idea what the reasons are. I'll keep looking.

I've had 2 tires that did that. Looks like the cords in the sidewall broke and the tire developed an "aneurysm". Incidentally, both were michelins. But not high performance tires. Not safe.

I thought each time "Thank goodness they did it on the outside where I could see it rather than the inside!"

Have you hit any decent bumps lately? Or maybe let the car sit in one spot for a long period of time? Those can cause that. Either way, it's new tire time. I doubt warranty will cover it but you could try taking it to dealer and getting them to warranty it.

I have an 05 gransport. For some reason, the rims on the maseratis invite tire wall bubbles. I have replaces 3 tires (2 front right and 1 left rear) due to this and had to have 2 rims reconditioned. The price you pay for having a sports car in NYC.

thanks, guys. I will visit a Michelin dealer tomorrow....All I did was to inflate from 27 to 29 psi (recommended pressure). The front left one was down. I do not recall having hit anything....My kid could have kicked it while parked...
I am going to make sure Michelin pays for it. High performance car, or not, it is not an acceptable defect after 6000 miles. I will want to "pit" just yet, but no highway driving for me !
