    You have a nice collection!

I'd be curious to hear your comparisons in driving GT vs F430 vs Lambo.

    Very Nice.

Just out of curiosity....what influenced your decision in buying a GT?

I had a chance to see the new Corvette at a local dealership on Saturday when shopping for a car for one of my boys. Certain aspects of the car were impressive but 2 things really turned me off. The first was a lame attempt to duplicate the glass over the engine compartment to view the engine as the Corvette has a plastic window and what appears to be a fake engine cover built into the hood.

The second thing was the dealer had marked the sticker up from $112K to $198K. The salesman asked if I was interested and I told him that I might be if I could buy it at sticker or preferably below and depending on how difficult it would be to install a roll cage as I would only use it as a track car. At that point he questioned the fact if I was serious or not so I pulled out my AMEX and told him to write the deal up. After more than 30 minutes he comes back with my credit card in hand and tells me that one.... his manager wouldn't approve the sale at sticker and second....if he did he wouldn't sell me the car knowing that I was going to modify and use it for a track car.

With the market as bad as it is and being in the crapper, you would think that these dealers wouldn't care what the hell happens to a car as long as they can move it off their floor.

Was that the one at Ed Morse Sawgrass? I stopped in last week to talk to them about it. They weren't willing to deal at all. What the car can do is rather impressive but the "window inj the hood is pretty lame and the red exterior with light blue calipers and intake was quite a mismatch.

They probably didn't want to hear about how they sold you a 'lemon' after you destroyed the car on the track! ;)

sadly, the GM is probably trying to make up for 3 bad months in one car deal. all the chevy dealers typically think about is ONE deal when they have a 'premium' car, then they have nobody to turn to when the car values soften. give it a month...somebody else will be in the catbird seat.

    ditto

I can't think of anything witty to add.

Corvettes - pretty much sucks at any price.

    GT40 - drooooooool!

Then again,m you can probably pick up ALL of GM for $200K - that is, if anyone still has any cash left!

Taking it to Heffner. Either his 750hp package or a Whipple supercharger is what I'm thinking. The stripes are silver. Other than that just the standard stuff, V1, Laser Interceptors, Smoked Lights, Window Tint.

I wanted to replace the F430 with something. It was a bit too tame for my taste. It's a great car in a lot of aspects, just not exactly my cup of tea, especially now that it's starting to get cold. Since I already have an E-Gear car (the Gallardo Superleggera) I definitely wanted a 6-speed for the replacement with lots of HP and TQ that could take a beating. I have sworn to never buy another Chevrolet product due to the horrible build quality of my 06 z06 and even worse customer service. So in reality it boiled down to a few choices: 1) 08/09 Dodge Viper ACR, 2) Ford GT, 3) Modded 996 or 997 Turbo. In the end the choice landed on the GT. It's the most exotic car of the choices, it's mid engine and it will make a ton of power relatively cheaply. It also seems to be holding it's value better than most cars.

They should be MSRP soon. Last I heard they were down to 5-10k over.

    Congrats on your recent purchase!

My $.02: I formerly owned a 2006 Ford GT (Blue/Stripes) and now drive an F430 Spider. The GT is much more of a "raw, ridiculously fast car" - shifting is a breeze....site lines a bit tough, especially on left hand turns... Call me a wimp, but I totally lost it in a tail spin (2nd--3rd gear) one afternoon on dry pavement and is scared the heck out of me (and my 15 year old son)! The car is somewhat "tail heavy".....and without any stabiluty control, can get away from you.

In any event, if I had larger balls, I would have never sold it!! I paid MSRP as a new car with delivery miles and sold it with 1,100 miles for +$25,000.

    Drive safely.

Best of luck - black is the best color!!!

Congrats on the new car! I always thought the Ford GT was the best American car product of the last 20 years at least. Hope you enjoy it!

I have a friend who tracks his GT with me and has Hoosiers on it and says it now sticks like glue! He has the upgraded supercharger kit with about 650HP and that car is way faster off the line than my 360F1. Enjoy the car its very cool looking from every angle.

It was either the Corvette or the new Viper. The mechanic that I use said that the roll cage would go into the Corvette with less damage to the interior than the Viper so that's why I was leaning in that direction.

Well you sure got yourself one hell of a car. Enjoy..:D

Nope....I stopped by the dealership this evening to pick up some tag work on another car and it was still sitting in the showroom with the same sticker in the window.
