At Gingerman raceway yesterday I was fortunate enough to get a ride in an F40. Last year I tried to get a ride, but woman and children come first, and after the last little boy got a thrill the driver quit giving rides. Bummer. The same thing happened this year too!! I just don't have the heart to speak up in protest...and walked away very dissapointed. Well the lovely lady that accompanied me to the track snuck away from me and pleaded with the owner to give me a ride. Imagine my shock and embarrassment when he approached me with the offer for a ride.....I certainly wasn't gonna refuse. He says that he can't push the car to it's limits, and has one of his employees drive me instead. Getting in and out was more difficult than I'd imagined. But once inside it was very comfortable. Rear view was poor of course, the car was very low, and had no radio.....gosh how I want one!! On the track the driver pushed the car pretty hard on the straights, and really hit the skids into the corners, and accelerating at the apex with tires right on the edge of losing traction. I know this is a boring report....here is how it really was for me:

"Oh my God.....what acceration!!" "Holy Sh## this thing corners like a go-cart!" "If you brake any harder my eyeballs are gonna pop out of their sockets!!"

That was the MOST AMAZING ride I've ever had in ANY CAR! I have owned some pretty hot cars, everything from musclecars to Corvette ZR-1s. But nothing....I mean NOTHING...compares to the F40. It was an experience I will never forget. It's hard to believe a car that old (it was a 1990) could be so good. And to top it off this F40 had 38k miles on it....so it gets driven. For all the F40 owners out there, I totally envy all of you. The F40 has always been one of my alltime favorite Ferraris.....but now that I've experienced one....I have to put it at the top of the list. What a raw...all business....emotionally over the top....beautiful machine!!!!!

And a special Thank You to Karen....if it weren't for her....I would not have had the ride of a lifetime!!

You will only hear those remarks backed by ".....gosh how I want one!! " with a Ferrari! :)

Congrats on the ride ( was it your first ride in a Ferrari or just the F40?)
I just got my first ride in a 360 last weekend around Pikes peak International Raceway and it totally blew my mind! The acceleration & braking are all so awsome! However, Roland Linders F40 LM was way ahead of us on the straights and turns, so I cant even imagine what the F40's like!(He doesnt know it yet but im going to ask Roland for a ride next PPIR track day, lets hope he says yes!)

Once again congrats on the ride in one of the most bad-ass Ferraris around!Good story too :)

Very cool. Any idea if the F-40 was Michigan based? I came across one last summer at 696/I-275 in the middle of Friday rush hour!

Did it make the Testarossa feel like a luxury car, lol?!?!
    Great story, thanks for sharing.

I guess that may be a dumb question since you own a Testarossa lol(face red), I guess I will have to start reading profiles instead of assuming :)
