Just registered on this site tonight, not a Ferrari owner but a huge fan of all things Ferrari since i was a kid....i will get one,one day! A few years ago i came up behind this F40 in my old Subaru Impreza, sat behind him for a while then the road opened up and he proceeded to open her up a bit,i was flat out in 4th quite close behind when there was a puff of black smoke from the exhaust and a noise i will never forget then boom, gone! pulled away like i was in reverse! Saw him in the distance pull off road into local hotel so stopped for a chat, driver was from Scotland but car had Italian plates. Driver said it was an F1 tuned F40,approx 850BHP,one of only a handfull built.Dont know if he was telling the truth or just bulls***ing! Can anybody verify this? It had an extended front carbon spoiler and had F1 on the rear wing instead of the usual F4O.Had a pic of front end but cant find it at the moment. I live in Northern Scotland and believe me it is very rare to see any Ferraris on the road never mind an F40! Enjoying the site, makes me even more determined to own a prancing horse some day! Colin.
Hey Colin, welcome aboard. It is a very fun site to visit and hang out. Great story by the way, thats a car I would love to drive!
Welcome and great story. Keep your determination, build and pursue the vision. I have no idea about a 850BHP F40, however. I'm sure some of the experts do however. You might want to ask this question in the Super-Ferrari section. Forza, Cavallini
Hi Colin, Nice catch you made there with the pics. I live in Glasgow at weekends and London mon-fri. Only seen one F40 on the road and it was the south side of Glasgow years ago, just like thunder coming up the street. Got a peach the other week, XJ220 in petrol station, pulling out and driving up the road, got it on videophone however not downloaded yet. Regards, Matthew
Love the pictures mate. Nice to see the cars in action and to read the stories surrounding them. All I ever see near me is a 360 - older lady driver tootling around doing her shopping.....
Yes the F40's can make that kind of power. At one time Roland had his F40 making those numbers. He detuned it because he said it was just way too much for the street.
