vik, as a moderator, i dont think u should respond to every comment that someone makes. it makes u seem like u are OVERPLAYING your moderator powers. anybody else agree with me? if not, i'll just keep quiet. just trying to help u be a good moderator like Sam.

Agreed. Banning me is one thing, I have no problem with it. But letting "****ing *******" slide, deleting Thonda's picture, and deleting/locking certain posts, is overplaying his power.
That's exactly why he responds to each one. He's exercising his right. I'm allowed to do that as well - has nothing to do with moderation. How people interpret that response is a different matter.
I will just politely point out to you why things going down the way it does. You said "you do not see any moderating going on", that's simply not true, you deleted/modified/locked several posts, that's called "moderating", no? So you see, you made a false statement, which open yourself for someone(for example, me) to pick on it, things might get ugly from there. that's how trouble starts. this is not to attack or flame you, just paint you the picture.
I am glad that you see it as "me exercising my rights", so nothing is wrong with doing that, right? then why did Noah jump on me TWICE for exercing my rights??
Reread Hubert's comment. It was on this particular thread, and the fact that I responded to JC's comment. As for general moderation, absolutely. And will keep actively moderating - and taking action against violaters - until necessary. Not to warn or chide you, just letting you know how it's gonna go down.
When Hubert said "you are overplaying your moderating power", I am pretty sure he was referring it in general. But if your understanding is its within this thread. No problem, sorry for the misunderstanding. However, my point overall is still valid. For example you said last night "unrelated post should cause a thread to be locked/deleted", which was not exactly true either. As I said, I only want to show you the picture how certain trouble starts, and what casues it. No problem with that, play on.

When you put "quotes" around words, you would best be served by ensuring you are actually quoting that person. An apt interpretation of my comment was that it was a discussion between Eddie and Rob, and it was disappointing that Hubert posted something completely irrelevant to what they were trying to clear up. It was my opinion as a NYTS member, not a moderator. You think the trouble starts with ME??? I always love a little levity in the middle of the day. Anyways, I'm done with this back-and-forth. But feel free to exercise the right to respond that you cherish so much.
