P0442. My gas cap was a bit loose. I hadn't drove it for a week and it was under 1/4 of a tank. I filled up. Tightened up the gas cap. The light is still on but I can't get my OBD 2 reader to pick up the code again. I don't want to kill the power but I would like to get rid of the light.

I smelled for gas in the engine compartment and didn't smell anything.

Mike- Good chance it will go out after a few drives. At least I think so. One of the pros can tell you for sure.

I had a a problem getting rid of a code with one fancy reader, so I used my super simple one and it did the trick.

I recently had a CEL that showed no codes when I plugged in my reader. I think what I ended up doing was to unplug the reader, start the car again, verify that yes the CEL is still on... then shut the car off and plugged the reader back in. Second time it showed the code and I was able to clear it.

I'm using one of the Actron OBD II readers from Autozone. It doesn't have the Ferrari in there but it does have a generic 1996+ setting to get the basic codes.

Was able to get it to pop back up and erase it. Drove it for about 50 miles and nothing popped back up.

Great news. Always a good day when a CEL doesn't come back.
