Last Sunday I got my first car, a 1969 Mach 1. I'm very excited to work on this car with my dad, and we've already started. We are working on replacing the head gaskets because they were blown. The work is going good so far, we just need to get the heads machined.

Oh a little more info on the car. It is a M-code 351windsor with 4-barrell carb, and supposedly origional seats. The interior is in good condition except the usual rips and tears in the seams. But the body panels on the car are all origional and very straight. It should be a great project for my dad and I to work on, it will be fun!!

    Here's some basic pics.

Enjoy the time and oppurtunity to work on that car with your dad. It will be something to remember your whole life and will bring you closer together. Its something that I personally really wish I could have done with my father when I was younger, and I'm sure a lot of other people do as well. Best of luck and keep us posted!

Well, I guess a galloping pony (instead of a prancing horse) is only appropriate for Ferrari Boy. :D Congrats David! May this project provide great memories for your future and a sweet ride for trips to CC.

Congratulations!! As others have said, enjoy the time working with your dad on the car. You've got a good starter there, too - parts are are easy to find and there are a gazillion ways to go with the car.

    Enjoy it and congrats again.

    Cheers

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I will definitely have fun with it. And Dusty, a little more info for you. We found it in garden grove off this "middle man" I guess you can say. We didn't get a stricking deal on it, but it was definitely worth the money, and then some. It was running when we bought it, but it has a blown head gasket, and actually we think both are blown now. So as of now it is not running becuase we have taken the engine apart down to the heads so far.

Supposedly the engine was rebuilt maybe 5 years back, but we don't have any records to prove that. We will find out when we get her running again!

And when I get my license (september) I'll be making it to CC more often, but definitely not in the main showroom. haha. And we can probably start her up soon when it's fixed, so my dad and I can head to Haus of Pizza!! I hope soon, I can't wait to drive it again.

    very cool car.

    Enjoy it!

Here is a great site that where you can get a report on your car. Tells you everything about your car. Have fun and get bloody knuckles and dirt under your nails.

p.s. Keep a spare coil, hand cleaner, basic tool kit, duct tape, zip ties, shop rags and any thing else you can think of.

AND MOST OF ALL GET AAA PLUS!!!!!!!!!! They will tow you 100 miles 7 times a year.

    F-boy! good find!

P.m me. Let me talk to you and your Dad.

I can help with saving you from making a few mistakes
and how to make them safe and reliable.

The car is far from a modern car, and requires a differant mind set while driving
