So purchased my car in October and it only came with 1 FOB and 1 key. I decided to bite the bullet and order another key and the PIN from Ferrari. I just did the PIN procedure and I was able to start the car without the FOB.

At this point I could order a new set of FOB's but I'm not sure I want to do that, since I have 2 keys, 1 FOB and I know my PIN. If I lose my FOB I can start my car with the PIN and at that point I would order a new set of FOB's.

    Sound like a good plan?

Buddy, I dont think so. I am in the same exact situation and I believe you will need a working remote to add the new fobs...

Steve - nope, that's not true. You only need a working PIN.

I have no idea what the costs are and the quality of your car and how long you plan to keep it. If your car is on the upper end of pricing when you go to sell it because it is lower miles, great paint, etc. You know like a "A" car as compared to a "C" car, then books, fobs, covers are part of the package for the higher end. It may be hard to find those parts when you sell or you just don't buy them and you ask accordingly or don't, 6speed cared for cars seem to sell themselves....

That's the only reason I'd buy the fobs because you don't actually need them right now. I assume you aren't selling soon so just stay the course.

Buddy - Now do yourself and future owners a favor....

Open the panel behind the driver's seat and put a label on the immobilizer case with the PIN. Add the same label in the manuals....

If you plan to get a new set of FOB's - then wait and do after as a new PIN will come with the new set.

Just make sure you change the battery on your fob regularly. Ferrari recommends 6 months, but unless she is a daily driver like mine, once a year is adequate. Probably a good idea to keep a spare battery (Duracel MN 21/23) and small Phillips head screwdriver in the glovebox, too. I actually carry a spare battery and screwdriver on my extra key chain in my pocket, and I have 3 fobs,

Terry - FWIW, I do keeps spare batteries in the car but as a data point, I've not changed the battery in my only FOB in 4+ years.....

But, this is a good reminder to do so.. :)

Yeah, I am definitely going to do that. Currently it's in the little compartment between the seats.

I would highly recommend contacting Gobble here on Fchat and order up a set of three new fobs and a new pin. He will first give you a very fair price on the new units, and second give you a trade in allowance for your original. At least that is exactly what he did for me and it made it a no brainer.

Affirmative, Eric355 and I taught Gobble how to do that. In the olden days, I provided about a dozen sets of fobs with new PINs to owners. Both Eric and Gobble still can provide sets.

Absolutely love it, it's my daily driver. Performs exactly as they said it would, I ran drag radials on it summer before last. Went to the track aired them down, ran a 10.8, aired them up and drove home.

I'm number 1 at my dealer for the Demon, should run a high 9 from the factory! Awesome horsepower times we are living in.

Gobble (Mark) is my friend and a great guy. It's important to know he mostly does cloning and a clone is a copy and along with a copy comes the rolling code issue. Since Buddy has a working PIN, we can buy a new set of 3 FOB's from Ferrari and get a new PIN and he would be golden. Mark would possible buy his old FOB (which would no longer work).

I know Mark was working on another aspect of the project but forgot the details.

I paid $750ish for a new set of 3 FOB's and a new PIN from Ferrari approx 3.5 years ago.

I'll shoot Mark and email with a link to this thread...

I have never walked into a f car dealer. I think the closest one to me is either Atlanta Ga or Charlotte NC. I have all three fobs and no PIN. I am pretty sure they are the original Fobs. I am thinking of calling a dealer about retrieving my PIN. Just to have. Any advice from people that have contacted Ferrari about a PIN? Any recommendations on a dealer to call? I would think I could fax or email my ownership credentials for verification.

Mark can do clones (which I am not recommending for the rolling code/out of sync issue that comes with them that you noted).

But he can do the Ferrari set like you purchased through Ferrari. He sold me three new fobs (black, black, red) with the new PIN on the Ferrari card. I assume he has a Ferrari source as they appear totally factory. You program/set the pin code to the immobilizer with the red, and hit the two blacks to pair them. He was quite less than $750 when I bought mine in late 2015. Then he offered a generous trade-in for my old one....in the end it's a really decent deal.

I don't think it was a one time deal, but I am sure Mark will speak to availability and price. Great guy to work with.

Ernest, my PIN retrieval cost around $350. No guarantees it will work as you car could have been recoded prior so it's a crap shoot. Give Livio a call at Algar and tell him I sent you

Thanks Dave. I will call them next week. The place in Australia can retrieve the PIN from the red fob, but they want $699. That is just more than I want to spend in my situation.
