Got nailed speeding in my fcar

Sorry to hear about it. We have some very quiet highways out here, but not much for hills.

Not sure what "S-radar" is. Perhaps "stationary radar"?

Did you get the ticket in Virginia? If yes, what county?

How many mph over the limit?

 

Try a ticket clinic in your area if available. If not, consider an attorney. They will slow things down and the state will give up.

Last resort is to go to court and plead guilty to lesser violation. They usually accept. Then take driver safety course locally to get points reduced.

Never heard of S radar. I dont think any radar captures video. That would be a new one on me.

Are you sure it's a reckless? FL and SC are over 25 mph the posted limit.

Regarding recommendation #2, Virginia is one of the few States that outlaws radar detectors and the police have "radar detector detectors" (yikes).

Many VA car owners have radar detectors but have to use them selectively while within the State.

 

I travel through VA with my V1 all the time.
I would rather be caught for having a detector than for "speeding".

 

The state does not have a right to send a signal that a citizen cannot acknowledge through similar technology. A ban on radar detectors is a bad law, just disregard

I totally agree, you should try living in the UK, we have speed cameras everywhere, the speed limit is an arbitrary number, why is it safe to do 50 but not 55 etc, it's bonkers, but, we get away with it on an almost daily basis, we know the risk and we know the consequences. if we get caught maybe we just need to take in on the chin and move on. On the other hand if he wasn't doing the speed he was caught for then fighting it all the way is the only choice, that's why I was asking.

I didn't come up with any obvious top choice but this verbiage on one of the law firm's web pages caught my eye:

"Most people are not aware of the harsh penalties associated with a Virginia reckless driving ticket – or think a Virginia reckless driving ticket is just a lesser traffic infraction, similar to improper driving or careless driving in Virginia. Same level of penalty as assault & battery or drug possession? Yikes!

It's funny that you were caught reckless driving, but won't accept it on your record. What's your defense? Not guilty? Good luck. Guilty with explination? If you've already been to court this year for speeding (which you stated), then you're not getting off. Be a man, admit guilt, and take your punishment.

I'd love to hear the judge sentence you, then you reply "judge, that is unacceptable on my record"

 

A Bell RX75 pro plus has a radar detector-detector built in. So if they try to find it it will cloak itself. Plus laser jamming. Very cool. Virginia is the only state that I know of were detectors are illegal.

 

Holy crap. DUI/DWI deserves those kinds of penalties, but 20 mph over the limit on a freeway...

I would certainly get an attorney.

VA is absolutely the worst state in terms of speeding/traffic infractions. I feel rather bad for you As previously stated, get a lawyer and tap any law enforcement ties you might have to find some dirt on said cop.

Also, get the V1 or a detector wired into your rear view to keep it hidden.

Its not like you were unaware of the fine if caught speeding. You were and chose to play the odds. You lost. Now you pay. It doesnt matter if the laws are stupid or not. All that matters is you chose to play..you lost. Now you pay.

Funny, when I look a the leaders in this country, I don't see them taking responsibility for their actions. If "shirking" is good enough for them, "weaseling out" is good enough for the rest of us.

And besides, stupid laws DO matter.
If Americans obeyed stupid laws, we would still be speaking British.

 

I was driving faster than I should have been playing cat and mouse with a Corvette, when an undercover Malibu decided to pull me over maybe 9-10 years ago. I was traveling triple digit speeds (young and stupid, now I leave that kind of speed to the track), and got a ticket written up for 85+ in a 55, multiple illegal lane changes, a couple other small violations. I got a lawyer, and he was able to talk to the DA and get the ticket reduced to a 250 dollar fine, along with 6 months supervision. It ended up costing me around 400 dollars after court costs, fine, and legal fees, but I was able to get nothing on my driving record.
