It matters that a 348 has matching gearbox and engine as much as it matters to any normal Ferrari...As far as being a collector's item, it will be as valuable as another normal Ferrari...It's not a supercar, its not groundbreaking technology...It's just a cool car with great lines...As far as my personal 348, I don't care about matching anything! I have an aftermarket carbon fiber center console, built-in Valentine 1, 360 wheels, 15" sub with 2 amps, stainless pedals, repainted from original color, stainless shift knob, bluetooth car kit, custom exhaust......So anyway who would do enough work to see if the gearbox matches the engine would never even consider my car from the start....But I don't plan on ever selling it, I will sell if I HAVE TO, but I plan on keeping it in the stable no matter what other exotics I purchase down the road, simply for the fact that you get so much car for the price...and if I converted the car to cash, then I couldn't think of any other car that would fufill my needs and wants for the same price...
Not quite ;-) In short: Injection valve clogged, cylinder ran lean, outlet valve destroyed, cylinder 5 to be rebuilt .. 1500,- EUR in parts alone or an F119H engine with low miles for 10.000,- EUR .. .. choice was easy. I hope this days the Valeo clutch finally gets sorted. Then I´ll report back on the performance difference (if any ..).
Easy on the grease monkey stuff dude. The grease monkies that help out on this board may be offended by such a comment.
Ahh yeah, being there done that. On my own car as well. Was told to get the injectors cleaned, while i rebuilding the engine, but skimped on the $180 ot do so. It was my 1st car,a 6cyl Ford. Anyways.......1 month later, can ran like crap......2nd cylinder leaned out, piston has a hole in it. Do it all again.......
Okay, I have to agree, IMO any Ferrari attracts more collectors then the Porsche brand might. For example 2001 996 TT with stickers over $140k are bringing less than $70,000, disappointing. Porsche I recognize are just reliable transportation. Traveling in a Ferrari is still an event to be treasured.
