Installed my Goth heatshields today Great fit really covers all the needs to be covered with relief at the end to allow for air to escape. Really really well thought out design. And they look GREAT !!!! Available at Ricambi http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=436097 Took about 1 min per side to install. I only show 1 side on the install as it was boring and redundant to show both. Enjoy [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Keoii-l_CBI[/ame]
Had them fitted to my M2.7 Not sure exactly how my mechanic did it But they fit great and give me a good feeling about protecting the CV boots from the dreaded radiant heat
Obviously these provide MUCH greater coverage than the stock pieces. However, what are thoughts on heat transmission of the single layer metal vs the composite type insulating material of the factory shields? Has anyone thought about having the Goth pieces ceramic coated, or maybe trying to apply one of the adhesive insulating foil type materials?
Well and I have to ask, would you be able to put the old stock ones on top of the Goth shields ? Even more protection ? Would they fit ? Or even stupid to ask ?
Cool vid ... ! ..... The Goth CV/boot shields do a great job of attenuating 'line of sight' radiant heat from the nearby cats/exhaust. Coatings and multiple layers would help .... but ..... would also be pursuing diminishing returns, as with the Goth SS shields installed ..... the next highest source of unwanted heat to the CV boots, is coming from contact with the hot engine compartment air .....
Do you have the billable hours for the heat shield install on your invoice? This would give an idea as to installation issues on the 2.7.
Seriously, did my 95 also just a few minutes more. If you can't get it then maybe the mechanic should go back to working on lawnmowers or stop running up the labor and get a real set of tools. Hardest thing may be rotating an exhaust clamp, I did not have to as my exhaust was installed correctly Just playing with my new gopro More like Ben Gay 1981 LOL
So let's see some pictures or at least a description as to how they when in cause I ain't seeing it. I made a shield similar to Goths for a test and I could not get it in without removing stuff. It's a bit of a wiggle and flex just the get the stock shields in on a 95 with the exhaust all installed. I'm assuming you have a stock headers, Y pipe, etc. Hey, if it's only a matter of a few minutes more do us 95 owners a favor and take one off and make another video for the 95. Not knocking you Tim, but the first video is about a useful as a video showing us how to get tin the car. Just saying, on a 96+ it's not something that really needs to be explained.
On my list already. Getting a set for the other 95 with total stock exhaust. I'll film that one. Like I said just wanted to try out the new gopro cam before we go to the track nov 8th. I honestly feel these cars have more then enough room to do just about anything in a good time frame. Most issues I see are folks not thinking forward when they work on them. Everything has it's exact place.
I'll be looking forward to it. I certainly can see getting one on from above, at least not w/o bending the crap out of it. At 68 I'm not to into learning new tricks.
