I'm running these as well. Can't comment on their long term protectiveness of the boot but they sure do look cool. Take the note in the video (and in the supplied instructions) seriously about positioning. Tighten up the nuts enough so you can adjusted the position without them moving on their own. If you are anal like me, you will jack up the car and remove the wheels so you can see from underneath and from outboard looking in to make sure they are positioned optimally and not contacting anything. Then lock them down.
looking at the pics the goth shields appear thinner than the fiberglass shields..making them easier to install than the oem shields....having said that my modified fiberglass shields (basically one inch longer shields overall and curve down at the outer end (like the goth shields ) to block heat radiation from all angles) had to be installed by jacking up the car, removing the end under body panels and sliding the shields up the axle shaft. One thing I did notice is the the axle opening operating slot on the axle shield had to be opened up to top of the heat shield (appears to hang down aprox 1/2 inch or so on the goth shield) or the heat shield 'jammed' while trying to slide it up the axle shaft.
+1.....pay attention to the axle shield alignment from below....the rubber boot will expand upon use with heat and no good can come from rubber contacting metal.
Quote is accurate! I installed mine from the top. I removed or moved nothing to put them on. Drivers side installed from the back(the bumper) & rotated the shield into place. Passenger side installed from the front(the engine) & rotated the shield into place. The passenger side was the tightest of the two & most difficult. I wanted to give up but I didn't. I win!
