Hey Bob, car looks great! I remember you telling me about the bumper exits when you came to visit at Santa Barbara Cars & Coffee. Besides the exhaust and the (awesome) brakes, wheels and tires, what other modifications have you made to the car?
It might have been...all the past Sundays are a blur now! But for sure I was witness to F355Bob's attendance, camera in hand. Actually, I vaguely remember Bob telling me he had the Gothspeed air intake too...
This may be a stupid question but... is there any type of risk from the vibration or heat from the pipes being so close to the bumper? It looks like a zero clearance fit around those pipes. Great looking job by the way! Thanks
Other mods have been Stoptech brakes, Moton Triple adjustible shocks, Challenge sway bars with Challenge adjustable link ends, engine rebuild by Enginfixer including ported heads, GruppeM intake, Goth exhaust , Fabspeed headers with Hyperflows, 2 sets of Challenge rims plus a set of HRE rims, Carbon fiber console and instrument panels by Valence. I have a Challenge steering pump already installed and have the Challenge rack that I will put on in the next few weeks. I guess I'm committed to keeping this car. I have had it for 10 years. No problem with heat damaging the bumper. Ran it all last year with no problem. Exhaust is ceramic coated. Nice seeing you in Santa Barbara, you've got a great car and it was a great show. Will be back in June so hope to be there again.
Extremely cool... Very Scuderia-ish, love it. Would have been interesting to see a photoshop of a CF rear diffuser under the bumper, as the newer cars have. Will probably ruin the pure lines of the 355, but maybe it can look great if done the right way.
Thought about extending the diffusers with cut outs in the bumper, but seemed to be too much work and I think it would ruin the lines of the rear. Car really looks wide with the origingal holes filled in. Goth made install easy with templates etc. Was alittle unnerving cutting the bumper holes but turned out great thanks to Goth's engineering.
Great looking pics Bob !! What you see are the 'bumper inserts' (same as the scuderia), which act as insulators and also help evacuate hot engine compartment air. The 'actual' exhaust tips are inside and do not touch the bumper. Here is the initial project thread with pics to illustrate; http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=286052
If this were the Honda S2000 forum, I'd be the first guy in line saying, "Hey man, want 2 part out Ur car?" Seriously, nice upgrades! Would love to see the dyno numbers once you've got them.
Where in Wisconsin are you? Which dyno? My friends Dynojet in Green Bay has the ODB2 logging system. We used it on the 355 and were able to log almost every ODB2 signal (ignition timing, coolant temp, air temp etc..) with the run. Look great!!!
I live in Madison and will be taking the car to Mossinee to Ed at Done Riite Auto. They will install two computers which will intercept the signals going to the stock computers. They can then, adjust MAP signals and crank trigger signals cold start etc without getting into the stock chip. It will be done on a chassis dyno. I hope to do it in the next few weeks if the weather ever gets better here in Wisconsin.
