All you 355 owners, how did you find your cars? Is there a guy out there that can find a good car or you just have to do the ebay, autotrader thing until you find a good one?

I walked into my local Ferrari dealer and said "Hi, I would like to buy a Ferrari".....Turns out I had come to the right place :)

I always shop for my own cars, for me this is part of the fun of buying a new car...

First you figure out a cross product of budget and desire. For me, I was (in 2001) looking for a F348 in the $60K-$65K range or a F355 around $100K or a Muira less than $120K.

Second you shop for cars that fit your cosmetic criterion. I spend over 1 full year on this.

Third you get a PrePurchase Inspection (expect to pay about $200 a pop). I went through 3 of these.

Fourth, contact your insurance agent to inquire about insuring said vehicle. Passing this, make contact with seller that you are going to buy vehicle.

Fifth, arrange the money into a place where you can get a monetary instrument to satisfy the seller. When you can produce the check, you make arrangements to perform the transaction.

talk to me and give me details on what you're looking for... it'll give me something to look for. No, not a dealer. No, don't want a commission. I'll just forward on good links when I find them. I'm pretty damn good at finding cars for sale all over the country.

I would say condition and price are most important (don't really want to exceed $60k and would prefer less). I havn't seen this car in a color I don't like :)

    http://bit.ly/5HbhJa : blk, OVE.com says they'll take 58,200.
    http://bit.ly/8roYxQ :red/tan damaged but listed at 35k
http://bit.ly/8ih3ne : cheap cheap blk, could be fake
http://bit.ly/8FU0im : red tan, private seller
    http://bit.ly/8SqBJH : blk, just under 60k

I found a couple others, but were too pricey to even post here. Ferrari of san fran has a 5,700 mile one right now for 99k. There's also a red tan in ATL for 68k.

Let me know if you check any of these out!

    Thanks for the links :)

First one looks really nice. I'm not familiar with OVE.com (dealer pricing?)

3rd one I figured was a scam but emailed him a few weeks ago. (phone # went to a fax machine) I got a response saying "I'm out of the country send money bla bla bla" so yes, scam.

4th one I have talked to the owner a few times (and have a thread going about the car) Car may be ok but the owner seems to be a bit shady and not really getting direct/accurate answers about the car.

5th one looks nice but I'm not really a fan of the wheels.

I'm watching this one but I doubt it could be bought for what I want to spend-

That ebay car looks nice. Very expensive in my opinion after my detailed search. I bought my 328 from those guys a couple years ago.

try Jack Babbit at NJBAutomotive.com or www.ferrariguys.com - same outfit. He is the secret guy in the southeast, midwest. Great service fella so he knows the cars that have been serviced/sorted and all that good stuff. Sometimes the cars he knows of can be bought right but aren't necessarily on the market - equally he performs PPIs.

    Good luck

I would find a local or nationally known independent mechanic and have them keep their eyes open for well maintained cars which they hear of often coming available. They will know the ones to stay away from as well.

PM sent with some additional information.
