Last night I took the G. Bush Tollway home and found a great government scheme - 40 cent exact change tolls (with the drop-in baskets).

WHO CARRIES 40 CENTS? I keep a roll of quarters in my car for parking, but not an equal number of nickels and dimes (although I assume regular GHWB drivers have to keep little 40 cent stacks). I couldn't help but think it was some gov't scheme to look better by having a 40 cent toll instead of 50, knowing that 1/3 of the drivers aren't going to have exact change and throw in 50 (like I did 2-3 times last night).

It's a small thing for each driver, and it's not like 30 cents is going to break me, but I think by the end of the year overpayments must add up to tens of thousands of dollars.

I don't think toll tags have ever been discounted? Have they? Maybe the first year when released, I thought mainly just for convenience.

I have been using toll tags for quite a while and you get a discount on almost every north Texas toll but the amount of discount depends on the amount of the toll. I think I pay $0.65 for the $0.75 toll on GB, and I pay $0.40 for the $0.45 toll on the NW Highway exit off the tollway. In general, I spend about $30 a month on tolls including tolls at the airport.

Yeah they do this alot, its kinda funny, cause if you run the toll, it takes a pictures so of you attempting to pay, so just throw slugs at it :)

they cant prove what you threw and didnt..

I've considered a tollway special; a flat black Olds, no tags or runnin lights. Break light cutout. Just crash the gates doin 98 ,let them F'ers roll . 10/4.

Who cares just get a toll tag and get over it. There is simply no reason not to have one.

Thank goodness "toll" roads don't exist in our part of Texas. Won't ever happen around here:) The best thing to happen in the DFW area was when the toll booths were removed off of I-30 - used to hate to pay to go to Fort Worth when we lived in north Dallas.

121 from Lewisville to McKinney when complete will be a tollroad, and only accept tolltags. The access roads (the old 121) will still be free. The real irritant is that tax dollars are already paying for 121, so this is blatant double taxation, especially since tolls no longer need to be retired when the road is paid off.

Frisco residents aren't going to have any way out of town that isn't tolled.

I love the Tollway. They are kept in very good condition, and I'll take the gridlock and drivers (no semi trucks...or cars with hub caps or other parts randomly flying off them) on the Tollway over Central Expressway any day. Ever wonder why the car fires are always on 75 but not on the Tollway? :)

Ryan-I know you are only here for the summer but going through the Toll booth, waiting, and scrounging for change even once is enough reason to get a toll tag - plus you get a discount. Doesn't cost anything to get one except a small deposit which you get back when you return the tag.

Go to Boardwalk Ferrari, but when you get of the highway, go east, instead of west. It will be on your right.
