From the caseback alone you can save a trip to the jeweler. You might not like the answer.

    Hi Rod,
looks like a replica to me. I have one with a yellow face. Does it have a box, any papers? The box is not the type of thing that would be thrown away. It is substantial and would have been kept.
I also have the genuine item with a red face, and box and papers etc.

    Rod,

The caseback is not correct. Real GP pour Ferrari watches have the caseback held on by seven inset screws. The small dimples on your caseback are intended to represent these screws, but it appears to be a press-on caseback. Also, GP casebacks are engraved or imprinted, not the raised stamping on yours.

The face does not appear to be quite correct to my eyes, but GP used a wide variety of designs for the non-limited editions, so I can't say for sure.

The replicas and counterfeits I've seen were quartz watches, and the dials/subdials didn't match the GP functions. The right hand subdial is continuously running seconds; the large second hand and the center and left dials are the stopwatch function. The upper button starts and stops the stopwatch function, with the lower button an immedate return to zero. You might test those functions and see if they run correctly.

Good luck, but I don't think (IMO) you have a genuine GP watch.

    O.G.

Thanks for the info, I'll check all those functions tonight. Someone in the office suggested it could be a boutique watch that were previously sold at ferrari dealerships. Anyone heard of those

    Rod,

The watch is definately not a real GP watch.

We have a few on our site if you would like to cross-ref.
