Anyone watch the feature race? These guys were on each other and racing hard. Lot's of great passes and displays of drivers wrestling the cars around. Great stuff, even my wife liked it!

One of the best races I have ever seen. I'm glad they are televising it. It is a great way to learn about the next F1 drivers.

I was surprised when Speed re-ran it in the afternoon. Great racing, definitely. I guess you have to point to the spec-nature of the series, but when you think of it, these cars are as quick as F1 from maybe 15 years ago? And speaking of GP2, is Georgio Pantano ever going to get the call to the next level, or is he just going to become the Rubens of F3000/GP2?

It was a great race to watch, too bad the F1 race was so poor.

He drove for Jordan, so I don't think he will be back.

He did? Wow--I must have blinked and missed that one. You're right--drivers tend not to make second appearances in F1, do they?

Timo Glock managed to make a comeback. Also, Jos Verstappen and Jacqes Villeneuve came back after a season out. Oh and let's not forget Alex Zanardi. There are also several foot note drivers who have done this. So it is possible, and if Pantano takes the title and brings a ton of sponsorship dollars with him, he could possibly replace Bourdais or Vettel(with Vettel going to RBR of course). Thing is, he's getting old and has been stuck in this GP2/F3000 rut for a while, so I certainly wouldn't bet on it.

Plus he never did better than 13th in the Jordan in 2004 while Heidfeld managed 3 top tens. The car that was total shyte and so was Pantano. If he wins the GP2 title it doesn't speak too highly for any of the other GP2 drivers this year.

Dude this was only 4 years ago....;) You don't recall Hobbs referring to him as the wretched Giogio Pantano?

Funny you say that, because people have said that this could be the most competitive year of GP2 yet. You have several drivers who have a shot at the title.

Maybe it's competitive but if a driver that stunk in F1 is leading or even worse wins the GP2 title, what does that say about the quality of the field?

Well, he does have like a decade of experience in this category. Also, how badly did he really do? It's not like he was Ide or someone. Getting beaten by Heidfeld in your first few F1 races isn't that bad, Kubica was smoked by Heidfeld last year, and now he's everyone's flavor of the week.

My DVR is messed up. Anyone know where I can watch the race online? I couldn't find any torrents.

Pantano doing well in GP2 is a real indicator of the talent in F1 where he didn't shine.
Bordais IMO is another who cleaned others clocks in another series only to be an also-ran in F1.
Great race BTW. Best open wheel race I've seen in years. I may keep it.

Not really. Fernando Alonso was beaten in F3000 by Bruno Junqueira, Nicolas Minassian and Mark Webber. Now you wouldn't think that Junqueira and Minassian are better than Alonso or Webber do you? Nakajima finished only 5th in the GP2 standings compared to Glock's title, but Nakajima is the more consistent driver, giving Rosberg some trouble. Having experience in a series, especially as much as Pantano does, is a tremendous advantage.
