Anyone own one of these? I am deciding If I should get one as I'm not the best w/ directions. I explored circuitcity and best buy's websites but I want to know if there are more out there, preferably in the $500 range.

I have a Magellan. Costs about 800, but you plug it in and go. Color maps, voice turn by turn, NO loading software, no computers needed. Only downside is it can take up to 5 minutes to start working.

I enjoy the Garmin iQue, which is within your price range. I would not recommend it for the technology challenged. It has a learning curve, so that if you are going to share it with your spouce it may not be the easiest unit out there. It also functions as a PDA. While this makes it more difficult to operate it also makes it more advantageous.

Please see the following thread for some more gps options and more info on the iQue:

Just sent you a PM -- I have a Garmin 2610 that I would be happy to part with at that price. Normally it retails for quite a bit more.

The unit is definately the nicest of the lines available, and really does offer great reception and maps. I found it as close to factory without actually being factory.

I purchased a custom RAM mount which I bolted to my pax seat rail so that I did not have to do any drilling or mount it on my dash. Great unit, hope that the factory nav in my new car is as good.

I'm local to you and would happy to do the transaction in person.
