Race begins in less than two hours. Current grid status has MS starting from pit lane and Massa will remain starting on the grid. Both drivers have had engine changes. Speculation is that most likely MS will start with a very heavy fuel load.

This promises to be an interesting race.

Here's what Willie Weber had to say about this fiasco:

While Ferrari issued a statement defending the German, Weber blamed what he said were the driver's many enemies in the paddock for stirring up trouble.

"I think it's a scandal what has happened," Weber told reporters. "In my opinion, it was a driver's mistake in qualifying, and I think this could happen to anybody... For me it's too hard and I cannot understand why the stewards found this decision.

"Michael is not amused. If you know Michael, he's not an emotional man. It takes a little while and he will speak and say something after the race."

Weber said what had happened would have no bearing on Schumacher's future in the sport, with the 37-year-old yet to decide whether to carry on racing after the end of the season or call it a day.

"We had something like this in the past already, and we know the enemies, and we know how they react against Michael. I think this time they went too far, it was too much," he said.

"Yesterday there was so much emotion and it was planned by our enemies in the paddock. They don't like him."

Excerpt from latest news from Mosley:

Michael Schumacher should not be branded a cheat for the incident that stripped him of pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix, the head of Formula One's governing body said on Sunday.

"I wouldn't go as far as to say it was cheating," FIA president Max Mosley told Reuters. "You've got to take the thing in its context - in the heat of the moment when you are desperately trying to get on the front row of the grid, and you've got a split second to take a decision."

He recognised, however, that it had taken the edge off the showcase race of the season, depriving fans of a clash of champions between Renault's Fernando Alonso and Schumacher.

Alonso, the world champion who leads Schumacher by 15 points after six races, took over pole position in a race where overtaking is almost impossible.

(On a side note, I feel sorry for others who use this board and desire not to know what's occuring ahead of time.)

Good move on Ferrari's part to change the engine-if the major players are taken out in the first corner accident then Ferrari can continue the race, but if not just bring it in-the engine will still be fresh for the next race and they'll have a new engine for the race after that.

Too bad FIA's heavyhandedness has most likely caused MS to lose his chance at the WC but FA's already been punished; he has to drive a McLaren next year. :)

Good morning - good point you make! I continue to wonder if Renault will make an attempt to "buy him back". I have your email address and will send you the info. Enjoy the soccer game.

    Morning Carol!

FIA already doing damage control-so Mosely says MS isn't a cheat-then why is he at the back of the grid? FIA went too far....

    Where's the blue flags??????????????????????????

Rubens is definitely holding up the pack - just look at the times - as well as Button holding up MS. Seems to be definite inconsistency in the F1 stuff.

    Where are the blue flags?

In order for viewership and spectator attendance in places such as Spain and France continue to improve over prior years when Ferrari dominated, Renault will need to win the 2007 championship.

That is where the blue flags are.

Ron - very well stated - as a matter of fact I was sitting here thinking the blue flags are in the stands or in the pits, not with the course marshalls.

Rubens is at best a rolling road block in this race. Wonder what his problem is today?

Massa is next, now that would be funny, if Massa stuffed up Alonso's run.

Unfortunately, as FA comes up behind MS, MS will probably get blue flagged, even if MS is as quick as FA is. Just the way it is I guess.

Plus the rest of the pack - he's made it possible for all four front runner to come in and pit and still get out ahead of him. I think this entire race has become a BIG JOKE - really makes Indy last year look good.

At least MS got by JB for 15 - now will JV try to screw him??

Don't write it off yet, I think if MS did start with a full tank, he should be able to do the race in one stop, which means the first pit stop will be just for tyres, that will give him some room to work with between him and the leading cars as he will rejoin the battle much further ahead of the mid-packs, at least I hope.

Fisi pits and come out P15 - just where he needs to stay.

Isn't it about time for Rubens to run out of fuel???? or is he blocking for his buddy Trulli????

MS should move up to 10th pretty soon.

MS should get a blue flag only if they start showing them to the truly slower cars such as Rubens, Jacques, etc. If they do not see blue flags for holding up MS, then Fred and Kimi will just have to sit behind MS for the entire race. that would be fair.

Unlike other recent FIA and F1 rulings, the blue flags will hopefully be consistent.
