Pass it on to your kids. A VHS tape in the year 2020 will probably be worth a fortune :) like a GI Joe or Barbie Cook Top range since everybody will throw them away.

I doubt it... VHS quality is clearly much lower than DVD... but music analog mixed and recorded on vinyl is of higher quality (if a bit more surface noise and artifact) than anything digital... so far...

    Can't wait for my copy!

I bought it at Target tonight for $14.XX. What an awesome movie! It deserved to be on DVD all along. It will probably take me 4 days to watch the whole thing...

The DVD was released yesterday. 176 minutes of "edge of the seat" excitement!! The picture quality of the DVD from 65mm is truly outstanding! The audio Dolby 5.1 is OK, but then this was originally from vintage 1966. Was always my favorite racing movie. I 1st saw the movie at the Alhambra theater in Sacramento (which was unfortunately replaced by a Safeway)

I first saw the movie at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, from the front row.
I saw the DVD last night and the sound and picture are crisp, but, the edges of the picture are cut off. This seems strange as movie is split on 2 dvds.
It is not from memory I have a laser disk version and it is not the full width.
Not as bad MGM's cropping pan and scan to letterbox.
The interviews make it an worthy addition to collection.

Got home from work...turned on the plasma....turned up the volume....and watched the opening credits to the 1st crash at Monaco. Susie came in from the studio and said the neighbors could probably hear the sound, but she is grinning as we both have this movie as one of our favorites. Brings back memories of when I first saw the film.....

In 1966, I was a hot shot junior in high school. Each Spring, the Honor Society would take the money we raised during the year and pay for a "cultural" trip to San Francisco for a play. The bus would drop us off in Union Square and we would walk to the Curran Theatre. Three of us decided to skip the play and go see Grand Prix at a movie theatre close by. We planned out escape carefully. Looked in the SF Chronicle and found that the matinees started at just about the same time and we figured we could slip out and no one would be the wiser. We sat in the 3rd row with our heads slung back and watched the greatest show I have ever seen. I knew I loved cars, especially racing cars, but this film put me into the "hooked on drugs" category. After the last credit rolled off the screen and the lights went on did we realize our one mistake....the movie ( with Overture and Intermission) lasted A LOT longer than we ever imagined! We ran back to Union Square...yep the bus was still there...and yes the teachers were really mad, but we survived the scolding. We were lucky, the car gods had delayed the play and the entire group was asked backstage to meet the cast, so we only were missed for 15 minutes....whew

    Those were the days.

I just bought my copy about two hours ago, I cant wait to get home today and watch it. I havent seen it before so its like a brand new Christmas present (even if its from 1966).

Last night finally got around to watching Le Mans for the first time. (I know I am way behind the power curve here)
