I played for 2h..and I am not over the moon. It looks better but so far I havent seen the beautiful graphics from the youtube videos and the first missions do not bring anything new..I guess online multiplayer will make it or break it for me.

i'm in love with the story, just unlocked Trevor tonight. what a weird SOB. Customized a car, everything is so expensive in the game. You gotta really save your money

I walked back in & then was chased out into the parking lot & got shot to death. I love this game! The sandbox map is massive, I haven't got into too much of the storyline. Just been exploring the terrain, finding the ramps, cycling, riding the subway & train, running from cops, hiding, get arrested or killed, picking up hookers. (then running them over for more money & dumping the bodies in the river)

The last mission I completed was rescuing Jimmy from the back of the boat highway chase. Damn that kid annoys me. I haven't modded the cars yet, I've from of my other friends that sometimes it doesn't save your cars.

I haven't got into the online play yet, found a few bugs as for going up ladders, also fell into a solid building & couldn't get out.

Online doesn't start till Oct 1st.

The handling is different to GTA4 its more twitchy but the fact you can level up your characters driving skills it might improve over time.

They really are pushing the limits for 8yr old tech!

I think there is a pb with my xbox/hdmi. I see screenshots over the net and the graphics look much more vibrant than on my tv. It's as if I was playing through rgb cables. Any ideas?

There appears to be an issue with Xbox (as per usual), you have to install disc one on the HDD and disc 2 on a good (15mbs minimum) flash drive.

Also, apparently the PS3 version looks much better than Xbox.

Have you tried putting it on 1080p?

Some of the cars do handle a lot better then others . I found what looks like an Aston Martin Vantage roadster with a TVR front. The car was awesome! It handled much better then the R8 & Ford GT. I also stole a jet and flew around the island, so much to see now.

do I have to do any manipulation to put it in 1080? I thought it would switch auto when I plug it in with the hdmi.
it does look like the ps3 game looks better. Wish my friends had ps3 too..

The game is pretty good, but the way the cars drive hurts my opinion of it. I suppose I have to get used to it.

It's a minor issue only if you install the play disc. If you don't install it there is no issue.

Apparently nothing. 99.99% of people wont notice the difference. Only when you do slow-mo and zoom into screen shots you can notice tiny differences.

I had to change it the setting when I started using HDMI a few months ago but maybe because I had it set to 720p for my old monitor.

No harm double checking the settings :)

yes I have noticed this also.

Also did anyone notice they changed the driving controls for ps3? You have to accelerate with R2 instead of X. I tried changing it from the start menu settings but couldn't?

Oddly enough, I have been using the RGB cable forever and noticed that my screen looked stretched after a recent update.

I finally switched to hdmi....what in the hell was I thinking?????!!!

Running from the police isn't as hard as you think, if you're in the city just know where the parking garages & tunnels are located.

The more you drive, the better you get. If you do the "switch character" deal, you'll see character rankings for specific skills. Driving is included, and Franklin sucks out of the box.

You are completely right. I played pretty hard yesterday, and its grown on me quite a bit. I love this game. The lighting and atmosphere are spot on. It feels like California. The sky is a kaleidoscope of color. I love it.

I fiddled with my TV settings and the game looks a bit better. Did the 1st heist. Pretty cool. Now playing with Trevor who is a grade 1 maniac.

    I have a dumb question.

How is it that the graphics are so far superior to older versions that ran on the same PS3?

Better compression? It's the same old processor and graphics card in that old box.

Pure havoc. Having a blast antagonizing beachgoers on Vespucci Beach. I'm impressed with how 'vibrant' Los Santos is versus Liberty City. There was always a pall over Times Square and nothing seemed to scream "bustling city" like the real New York is.

GTA 5 has all of the variety of L.A. and the simulated city actually lights up at night. Spending the time to capture all of the details makes it a significant game. I'm also impressed with how "tossable" the cars are. The story feels fresh, though I was a bit surprised at who went down in Trevor's first mission.

Nothing to do with compression. The game engine itself has been optimised over the years. It took 250 people 4 years to develop, in that time that engine has powered another 6 titles so each new version brought in new features. DX11 support(for PC's) only happened with Max Payne 3.

Getting to know the hardware, better shaders/lighting.

It's the same for every generation of console, the later titles are usually way better than the earlier titles.

Just switched characters and made a stock purchase before the Lester assassination mission of that cigarette guy and doubled cash for all three characters after one mission, not bad way to make cash quick!

I've played the game through almost entirely. I love it. My only complaints are the driving physics and car damage...both seemed better in IV, to me.

For those who haven't completed it yet, you can expect a good ending. However, as in IV, there are multiple endings...not saying anything else.

I've been spending money left and right for all 3 characters. I've bought them various properties, bought all of them new clothes and vehicles (and customized said vehicles), and gave them new haircuts and ink. I've gone hunting with Trevor a couple of times, I've taken Franklin to the golf club a few times, and I got Michael's ass handed to him by his daughter in tennis. Overall, I give the game a 97/100. A significant improvement from IV.

Has anyone encountered any glitches yet ?

I can't take pictures with my phone unless its part of a mission. Once I try to take the pic and try to save the pic, the game freezes (xbox) .
