Hi, I've been thinking about getting a MC convertible as daily. Any comments on its reliability and things to look out for when buying? I see a lot of Maserati GT around with high miles >10000, seems like people are driving them a lot and I assume they are pretty reliable? I have an Italia given that Maserati gets its engines from Ferrari, I assume the Ferrari V8s are pretty good! Will
I have 4500 on my gt sport coupe since June, problem free and purring like a kitten. Not a long term assessment but looking good. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
Yes they are very reliable, they are modern cars after all. Nothing major to report, there have been minor issues (like the sun visor "dropping") but those are fixed by the dealers at no cost during the warranty period.
Smh ... Since when is 10k ever considered high miles ? That's not enough to even be broken in . Most modern car driven regularly are problem free under 50k miles.
Yes, the V8 engine has being developed by Ferrari. Maserati (and Alfa Romeo with the 8C) versions have crossplane crankshafts, while Ferrari versions are flat-crank. Maserati is using this engine since 2002 till today (Maserati Coupé/Spider, GranSport, Quattroporte, GranTurismo S/Sport/MC). Ferrari is using the engine (Tipo F136 family) since 2004 till today (F430, 430 Scuderia, California, 458 Italia/Spider/Speciale and also for the race cars F430 Challenge/GTC and the 458 GT2/GT3). This engine is mature, very reliable and extremely stable. Btw, the same applies throughout the GranTurismo. I'm convinced that you will be very happy with this car! (I ordered in december a GranTurismo Sport as my new dd. When all is going the right way I will get the car in May)
5500 on my '13 GT sport, drove everyone into D.C. last night in her. Completely trouble free. Been back for a couple normal things, updated head unit software for my new cell, accidentally kicked a button off the driver's seat Car is rock solid. Motor is rock solid. Definite keeper. What I love about her the most is I know I can change her up every couple years with a wrap and get a whole new look. Today it's Bordeaux. Two years from now, I expect I'll make her matte black for a while. I will NEVER get tired of that interior, that sound, that drive and that look.
