    Hi all,

I have a May 2008 Maserati Granturismo and would like to check with fellow Granturismo owner if their steering are heavy? Could i gather some feedback please as i have driven a friend's Oct 2008 Granturismo and his steering is so much lighter. I have complain to the agent before but they said all Granturismo's steering are made heavier.

Hope to hear from fellow GT owners soon!

    Cheers,

    leealfred

Hi You should post your question on ************.com if you haven't already. Lots of Gran Turisimo owners there might be able to advise you.

If there are no strange noises etc then check your front tire pressures. The GT is a hefty car and if they are low it will make quite a difference in steering feel.

Really depends what you are comparing it to... For example, compared to my 612, yes it is heavy. But then, I would rather say the steering of my 612 is "too light" compared to the steering of my '08 Granturismo. I prefer the Maser's steering over my 06 612 any day. Matter of taste, I guess...

I agree with GP612. The GT has better feel than the 612, the California, and the 599 for that matter. I am really surprised Ferrari puts that much boast in their steering. The 430 is much better.

It is likely that your power steering pump is faulty. I had the same problem on my '08 and noticed some fluid leakage in my driveway. Took the car to the dealer and they missed the problem the first time, simply re-filling the fluid (something I was obviously capable of doing myself). The steering was light (back to normal) for a few days and then went "heavy." Took it back to the dealer and they looked a little closer this time.....My entire power steering rack was replaced under warranty. They said it has happened before on another car, but that it apparently was not a model-wide problem. Since the replacement of the power steering rack, I have had no further problems.

I think I started a thread about this here sometime last year...don't have time to check now. But the info provide above should be enough to either identify the power steering pump as the problem or rule it out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Pheww, finally got my car back and had the whole steering rack replace under warranty. Steering is so light now after 1.5 years of driving it.

Thanks guys for giving me all your feedback!
