Set to be one of the star attractions at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, this is the Maserati GranTurismo S, a flagship that shifts the super-coupe’s emphasis from style to performance.

Key to the newcomer’s appeal is its mighty 434bhp 4.7-litre V8 powerplant – a 35bhp boost over the standard car. To help drivers make the most of the S it is fitted with Maserati’s quick-shifting automated manual gearbox.

What's more the range-topper also comes with powerful Brembo brakes as standard.

Buyers are also treated to a subtle bodykit and exterior styling tweaks to set the high performance model apart. Inside, the cabin is trimmed with leather and Alcantara and features a bespoke seat design.

Expect more details when the racy Italian is unveiled in Geneva on Tuesday 4th March.

Maser should just go wild and push the performance envelope, give Ferrari a run for its money.

...why the heck they don`t get the car up to 450 hp????? The Alfa 8C has it and that version is brilliant! Since when is an Alfa Romeo stronger than a Maserati???? Maserati needs a clear S T A T E M E N T !!!!

    Ciao!

The problem is if they make it very powerful it will out sell their sister brands...because...without question...that is the best looking 2-door GT car in the world!!!

Absolutely stunning. I already saw a number of 'standard' GTs on the road and I must say that it's a true work of art.

35 extra bhp is better than nothing but it could have been more. What the GT really needs is torque though (especially at lower RPMs), and it would be interesting to see what they've done about that.

In any case it's a breathtaking car...

the stock brakes are already Brembo...

but i still ordered the 380mm Brembo kit, just to fill out the wheels a little bit better. :)

We're still wanting more, but its a step in the right direction. So correct if I'm wrong, it is a true cambio corsa tranny or is it the same automatic version they have now??

It's a cambio corsa to differentiate it from the 4.2 model. I'd imagine the shift quality will have been improved over the 4200 model.

The CC of the new GT S is completely upgraded and now shifts in 100ms (an adapted F599 gearbox?)

Maybe...just maybe because of the substantial weight of the GT over the AR 8C and even though they sort of share the same engine,Maserati concentrated efforts for better torque output rather than straight horsepower gains for the 4.7L... JMO.:)

DS nor CC are NOT dual clutch but single clutch!!! It is like BMW's SMG not like VW's DSG. If you read specs the new box is quit similar to Ferrari's F599 gearbox. It shifts gears in 100ms....

Exactly. In my eyes, the new wheels are a bit too complicated in design while the overall design language of the car isn't.

They definitely have attractive details and all, but only as a standalone piece, IMHO.

Maybe a twin-plate, single clutch would clear up the mess :)
