OK, I get the Dead-Head thing. But being an old geezer I don't get the Spread-Head thing. Is it basically the same, you know....thing?

    Please explain, compare and contrast.

    Begin now.

    * A drug that stops the spread of bone cancer may offer hope for prostate cancer patients. In a 4-year trial, researchers in the United Kingdom found that men taking sodium clodronate had lower PSA levels and were less likely to die from prostate cancer than those not taking the drug.
    * Studies show that men with high boron intake are 65% less likely to develop prostate cancer. USDA researchers found that taking boron, 3 mg daily, not only fights cancer but improves memory and concentration as well. Raisins and almonds are good ways to incorporate boron into a diet.
    * A study shows selenium forces cancer to self-destruct.
"No other single nutrient appears to prevent cancer more effectively than selenium," said Gerald F. Combs, PhD, director of the USDA's Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center.
Selenium consumption has been linked to a decreased risk

    Widespread Panic.....

When I was in school at UGA, Dave the base player lived in a broken down old house behind the Apt. building I lived in. We were barely recognizing of each other, basically knew each other because we shared a pot dealer. I did get to see them practice when the band was first formed.

I was there when they played their very first public gig. It was by a lake at a house south of Athens on a cool fall evening. Free show. I wore no socks and my feet were freezing! One of the best shows I ever saw, I was hooked. There were perhaps 100 people present.

Before they had any name recognition at all they used to play the 40 watt club every monday night. I was at their first paying show. That first monday, it was empty. The panic spread fast.... in less than 6 months monday nights were packed wall to wall. We also had them play our fraternity house on a number of occasions. Fantastic party band in a tight venue!

In time, they got huge and I got old. Their music changed as well and I cared for it much less. Oh well. Interesting to hear they are still banging away at it!

I spent a summer touring the east coast with the Grateful Dead. Dont remember how many shows we saw, lots. Tons of fun. Still.... I never was a "deadhead". I looked like one and loved the shows, but when people dedicate their lives to a band, thats just crazy! I always thought the hard core deadheads were LOSERS with a capital L!
