I am in the market for a 456GT and came across one that sounds pretty nice, but is a gray market car. Never having owned a gray market car I have some trepidations about making the plunge. So, I am looking to the wisdom of Ferrari Chat for advice.

Here are the facts. It is a 1995 six speed, with 11K miles, belts done, windows done, steering rack done. A compression test was performed (allegedly) and the car passed. The (DOT/EPA) conversion was done by G&K Motors in CA. The car is being sold by Cherner Classics in MD and the asking price is ~$62K. One bad thing, a previous owner replaced the center vent with a NAV screen.

The cost of the car is considerably cheaper than what is the current market price - particularly considering the timing belt has been changed. But is it worth the cost savings of $15K - $20K over a US spec. car?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Mark

    I looked at the car
not a nice car for the money
You can get a nice 1995 with similar miles, us car, for about 70k
also the title shows the car as being a 1999,I think the car a very early model...the first year for the 456 in Europe was 1992!
way to many questions...and has the window problem
I drove the car, the heat did not work and the car felt rough
Ending buying a 1999 at fow for 80k a week after I looked at that one
they also have a nice 2000 yellow 6 speed wiyh very low miles...that car is mint
    good luck

I wouldn't touch a gray market 456 with a ten foot pole. There are plenty of US 456s around for not much more money.

Also keep in mind that if it's cheap when you buy it, it'll be cheap when you sell it too!
