Either way seems to be spreading, with the chizeta and other marks of cars, I know there are a fair amount of very, very, questionable gray market Ferrari in the USA, so do your homework before you buy.Any of you wants to read up on a billionaire pissing match, read up on Bill Gates, yes that guy, with his 959 that sat in a US customs warehouse for nearly 18 years.

I'll be honest with you... this was one of the reasons I got rid of my Dino in the 90's.

It had rather "questionable" paperwork when it was imported --from an authorized dealer who is still in existance and refused to acknowledge ever touching the car when I asked for documentation (sorry I'm not saying who). Of course it was never federalized.

I always feared some wise guy at a California smog station turning in the car for a reward. It never happened but it was one of the things I got tired of worrying about.

You have to remember, in the 90's there were putting people in JAIL for false smog and conversions of gray market cars. It was a big deal then.

One of my friends had a gray market M5 back in the day. He had a heck of a time getting it to pass smog every two years in California. He tracked it and drove the tires off of it. He ended up selling it because of the smog issues. Yes, I remember when there was a huge influx of graymarket cars in the 90's.
