Greatest battle that I know of. I have a painting by Benjamins depicting this battle hanging on the wall next to my pc.

Arguably the best closing laps ever. It's been posted before but one can watch (and enjoy) this video 1000 times!

Does anyone know where I can see this vid without the music overlay? I'd love to hear the actual commentary and sound of the cars. If it's in English great. If not, better than the music.

Wow. I've never seen that before. I wish that we could have battles like that every race again! It is nice to see Michael win always but those epic battles cannot be beat.

Ah, but that's what makes them "epic". If they happened every race we'd become jaded. This kind of wheel-to-wheel action was very rare even in the "good old days".

That's a good point, Gary. Although given the choice of becoming jaded with no passing versus becoming jaded by lots of close racing, I'll opt for the latter;)

On a smaller scale we had a hint of a similar battle with JPM vs Kimi in Hockenheim a couple of years ago. Passing and repassing. Wets my appetite for next year.

I said it before, so I'll say it again: I know "next year" is always going to be better, but I really feel it in my bones this time.

There would be more moments like that if the other teams could execute the way Ferrari has. They were close until two years ago then they stumbled somehow and Ferrari did not.
I think it was Coulthard who said, "Don't get mad at Ferrari because they've got it right."

    Forza,

I have always heard of this, the most famous laps in F1 history. Now that I've seen it - I absolutely agree. I was on the edge of my chair throughout the whole clip - and I knew how it ended. And unlike these days - I heard after it was over Rene and Gilles hugged and embraced each other warmly, knowing it was the greatest car-on-car battle ever.
Now - today that kind of sportsmanship does seem a bit rare. Let me know when J-P and MS give each other an embrace after a car-to-car duel.
    Terrific footage - many thanks!
