Thank you for confirming my research findings while restoring my car. I prefer sharper lines but the character or the shape should be unchanged. Therefore if the fender line curves I call it a Design Change. Below is a photo that should be well known to Daytona owners.

P.S. detailed explanation in the DaytonaRegistry.

I have just found your thread and read from start to finish on the restoration of your Daytona on the registry, great thread, god i have a long way to go with my car. On page 18 you show the Alli. trim that fits over the vertical flange on the bottom of the sill, it was missing on my car, as on a lot of others cars i would think, where your's new, as i am looking for a source for these?
    Great job

The reason the Daytona Spider in question has inconsistencies
is it was crashed heavilly which destroyed the left-front corner
completely during a track event and the owner refused to have
the original restoration carried out correctly.

Thus, it is going through a second restoration through
    Classiche.

Step very carefully on this one.

I believe the dealers painted them silver - not the factory in the early years.

    andrew,
period articles and factory brochures document the painted nose as factory. but, i've heard that new owners had the silver nose repainted immediately upon delivery from the dealer. the silver nose was not popular when new.

"2003–2004, restoration started. Complete strip to bare metal and new paint by Luke Grundin of Fort Lauderdale, invoice approximately $24,000."

Proper spelling is Luc Grondin an absolute top notch painter, bodywork craftsman and a great guy, highly recommended.
