    Hi Team

Great news. It has been a while, due to uncontrolable forces, such as a world pandemic. Now we have that idiot in Russia disrupting the worlds progress back to normallity. together theser have created a world were it is increasingly difficult to get things done. The knock on effect on our humble little productioin volumes for silly little batches of obsolete tyres has become increasingly difficult to get produced. However the light is now visible at the end of the tunnel. I have just recieved a fresh batch of these

Loads of road cars fitted these between 1964 and the early 1970s. I think some models as late as 1972, though 70% profile tyres came out in 1968

there is some fitment data on here

so i'm really interested in this change over period and wonder if you guys have any pictorial evidence of what period things changed. cars like the 365 GT 2+2 definately came out with the 205VR15 CN72 on 7" wheels and they later changed to 7.5" wheels and 215/70R15 tyres. I think these were predominently Michelin, but some may well have been Pirelli Cinturato. what do you guys know.

any pictorial data about tyres from this period would be greatfully received

    Hi

I am suprised those original tyres are H.

Out of interest the new batch of 15" CN72 have qualified for a 97W rating, which is pretty good, and possibly overkill, but they were OE on the 5000 GT Maserati, early Muira, DBS and of course the 500 SuperFast, so maybe 170mph isnt such a silly idea.

Thank you, but what about the outlook of new production of 14" CN72 you mentioned?

oops yep, sorry i forgot to answer that bit. However funnily enough i was in contact with Pirelli recently about this and they are under development.

the world of tyre production is in bedlam in general. Pirelli i have to say are actually doing really well at getting this range back up and running, and there have been a couple of new edditions. they have recently made us a 155R13 Cinturato CA67

    155R13 Tyres - Classic PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 (longstonetyres.co.uk)

this fits an amazing volume of cars from the 60s 70s and 80s. I mean loads of them

Alfa Romeo: Alfasud, Audi: 80, Austin: Allegro, Maestro, Maxi, Metropolitan, Austin Healey: Sprite, Autobianchi: A111, Primula, Bond: Equipe 2 litre, Equipe GT 2-2, DAF: Marathon, DKW: Junior, Elva: Courier, Fiat: 1100, 124, 1500, 850, Ford: Cortina, Escort, Taunus, Hillman: Avenger, Hunter, Humber: Sceptre, Lotus: 7, Elan, Europa, Matra: Bagheera, Mazda: 323, MG: Midget, Morris: Marina, Opel: Kadett GTE, Renault: 15/17, 18, Simca: 1100 TI, Singer: Gazelle, Standard: Ten, Sunbeam: Alpine, Rapier, Talbot: Alpine, Avenger, Samba, Sunbeam Lotus, Toyota: Corolla, Corona, Triumph: 1300, 1500, Dolomite, GT6, Herald, Spitfire, Toledo, Vitesse, Vauxhall: Astra, Cavalier, Chevette, Firenza, Victor, Viva, Volkswagen: Golf, Scirocco, Volvo: 66, 340

We also have a 195/70VR14 CN36 in the pipe line.

    https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/195-70vr14-pirelli-cinturato-cn36.html

This fits loads of classic Bimmers and Mercs, but excitingly it fits the 240z, 260z and Alf Montreal!

Oh yes any day now we should also get a 205/55R14 P7 for the Maserati BiTurbo.

With regard to the 205VR14 CN72 i have been told that there is a possibility that there will be some preview tyres with the Italian distributers at the coming car show in Bologna Itally. I also hope to get some displaty tyres and will show them as soon as i can.

However onto when we will have them for sale? I will be suprised if we get stock this year, but i should be talking to Pirelli again soon so will let you know if there are any developments.

Thank you for the update. Not surprised at all by the HR rating - if you look at data sheets and original specification, the tires at the time appeared to be HR. If you happen to speak to the Pirelli folks, you might encourage them to make the CN72 210HR14, or 210VR14. Ferrari used for 275s 210HR14 Pirellis along with the 195 and 205 Dunlops. I measured that 205HR14 CN72 in my photos. The diameter is a bit smaller for example than XWX. Perhaps the 210 would be on the mark.

    Oo this is pretty good:

"CN72 should be industrialized within the end of the year, so available for production early 2024."

    https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirelli-collezione/cinturato-cn72.html

There is always a bit of scope within a tyre size.

I think making a 210VR14 would be a tricky thing to do. It would make the 205R14 that is barely a viable size sell half as many and the 210R14 wouldnt sell many either. sorry. I think we need to be happy, with the 205. Should we have made a 210 instead of a 205? well maybe.
