I don't think the hardware should be getting hard to find. They are a BMW (ATE) caliper. Pads are same shape as BM part but our pads are thinner due to thicker rotors. BMW is pretty good about stocking older parts.

Yes, BMW is great about stocking older parts. It is called Mobile Tradition. My daily driver is an 83 745i turbo car (euro only) and I can still get all of the peculiar hoses for that application.

As for the brake pads, I believe Ken is correct in that the ATE calipers look just like the BMW units that use a four piston caliper. Not so sure that the pads for the F car are thinner though. If you will look at the caliper construction, there is a spacer between the two halves. Over the years, BMW has used the same halves for different thickness rotors by simply varying the thickness of the spacer.

Even if they are a bit thinner, it would be easy to have some bimmer pads ground down just a bit if that is the only difference.

i recommend going with the Marelli pads...and make sure they have the anti-squeal shims.

we've had lots of trouble with ATE and Ferrodo pads lately, as they been showing up without the shims.

if they don't have the shims, the sound is unbearable...
