Vic and I had an amazing O/nighter at the Ravenshoe pub on Sat. 2 great rare steaks and a fully restored pub room and upstairs lounge/veranda area.: https://www.google.com/travel/hotels/entity/CgsI3OLDvcuk5_uyARAB/lightbox/CAoSLEFGMVFpcE1VWDZkU09zQUV1ZXVkVVZjc2pQZjhMNVlIQlF2NFFqMkhVM3JV?g2lb=2502548%2C2503771%2C2503781%2C4258168%2C4284970%2C4291517%2C4306835%2C4401769%2C4597339%2C4640247%2C4649665%2C4680677%2C4722435%2C4722900%2C4723331%2C4733968&hl=en-AU&gl=au&ssta=1&grf=EmQKLAgOEigSJnIkKiIKBwjmDxAFGAYSBwjmDxAFGAcYAjAeQMoCSgcI5g8QBBgSCjQIDBIwEi6yASsSKQonCiUweDY5ODIwMDcxYmZlODI3MTM6MHhiMmY3OWQyNGI3YjBmMTVj&rp=ENziw73LpOf7sgE4AkAASAHAAQI&ictx=1&utm_campaign=sharing&utm_medium=link&utm_source=htls&ved=0CAAQ5JsGahcKEwig0IT82pz3AhUAAAAAHQAAAAAQAw
They are when the owner is passionate about the history of the joint and restore it to what you can see in the pics...actually it's what you can't see that is even more impressive. The bulk of the furniture is period and restored including a couple of upright piano's. All the bedroom stuff is immaculate. The verandah's look like the old cruise liners with cane lounges, tables and chairs plus traditional timber,as it WAS a timber town until Richardson came along. As an aside..pic #6 with the log on the wagon,is not there anymore as the artist,Graham West LH bottom, picked it up the other day in one of my trucks to take to his new home in Atherton as he never had the space in his Ravenshoe house! It;d been on loan to the pub for years!
And you won't,as you can see he's not 'professionally' trained!....but he is a local legend for various reasons.
Nice to see ‘something’ being done to places like this, but why ruin the verandah by putting industrial roofing on instead of the correct Custom Orb corrugated profiles? Cost difference would not be earth shattering...
Well I guess she's decided that making the money to do what she's already accomplished attract the clientele that she now has, that she may well start to look at doing a little more to recon to original. I'd have thought getting the clientele in to start paying for what's there is more important than to change an existing non leaking roof.. but what would I know,I've only been in my little bizz for 27 years.
It is. Had beer o'clock with mate Secondhand Sid yesterday. He and the publican have been doing heaps of bizz since she took over, with many of the antiques, window louvres and various many other fittings that you can see in the pics coming from him..
Possibly, just picked up this 8 YO never tried it sooo that's what's being thrown in the port: Image Unavailable, Please Login
