My 1977 308 GTB recently needed some mechanical work on somewhat of a "time sensitive" basis and Zahir was able to accomodate me very nicely.

Ellery's work was excellent and the car is now as it should be.

Even thought I am a dealer, I consider myself a "customer" of Zahir rather than a "competitor" due to the different nature of the markets we both serve. My comments here are sincere and not motivated by anything other than 100% customer satisfaction.

I said to him the other day that I wish other shops in our locale had the same attitude and ability that his operation did and it is purely as a result of the excellent experience that I received which has motivated me to post my comments here.

If you own a Ferrari in the prairies you must give his shop a chance at servicing your car.....

Well I wish I could say the same.

It always great to have a 'great experience', but the real testament to a business' credibility is how it handles problems. ZR was given my keys for the purposes of shipping my car, said they would detail it because it was dirty. What I received was a car with several thousand dollars of paint damage using a buffer and wool pads (there were wool pad fragments stuck in the emblems). ZR refused to return calls from me or the Ferrari dealer that took possession of the car. Finally I sent pictures and a letter via registered mail, at which time ZR said 'It must have been that way and you didn't notice it'. I would not do business with them EVER.

I returned all your calls and the Ferrari dealer as well who did not phone me back. Afetr seeing you car in Monterey and while listening to you I clearly felt that you were a hoax and wanted a freebie. You spoilt your car after you got it back and wanted somelese to pay for it. I wonder why some of the Ferrari group down South di NOT want you at their events. I wonder why!!!

The driver who brought and took your car back was astonished how great it looked. From what I found out the car was given to another transport company to bring to you who washed it. The same transport company that another Ferrari owner has refused to let them wash his car as they had swirled it. This same gentleman acknowledged today to me that your car had swirl marks on it even when it came here. Perhaps you spoilt it yourself and trying to get a free paint job from me. You threatened to sue me and I am still waiting. Please come along I openly challenge you.

I have been many times at ZR autos and what you remember is how shinny ALL the cars are!!! I have seen plenty cars done by Maurice and myself, being a Mothers Waxes man, I had to admire his work. Hard to believe that they did the mess on the 550, not the style of that place!
For ZR, the customer satisfaction in more than a priority...
What happened between Denver and Reno will stay a mistery but might also be the answer.

Why is Mike not welcome at some Ferrari events?

Why did Mike use the same transport company that Peter used and complained about because of their horrible washes that scratched the paint?

Why was there wool stuck in the emblems when ZR uses sponge pads?

Why is this being handled in open forum rather than privately?

    Something doesn't add up here.

Well folks, there you have it. That is the Customer Service department at Zr Auto. Speaks for itself.

(zahir - at this point the car been repaired at my expense, so there is nothing to challenge)

Roland - You saw the pictures so you know what I'm talking about.

Glenn - I have never been denied to any Ferrari events, so I'm not sure what you are referring to? As for the transport company, I doubt that is where the damage occurred. The car was buffed only once, and Zahir admitted to doing it. I made numerous attempts to discuss this privately with ZR, who had every opportunity to discuss it, and made no effort to get to the bottom of it. I am simply replying to the thread as to my experience with ZR auto, for the benefit of others - thats all. Take it for what you will. Good luck and caveat emptor.

I have not posted much before as I am considered by many, especially my partner Glenn, as a computer illiterate. So bear with me if this turns out funky.

I feel the need to make a comment re: ZR Auto and its level of service. I am in a unique position as I have purchased not one but two vehicles from Zahir in the past year.

In the first vehicle, the previous owner used solvent that made the ventilation outlets and control switches sticky and deformed. Zahir replaced all the fixtures in the vehicle and even took the radio out of his own 360 Spider and gave it to me because it was superior to the one in my car.

The service team lead by Ellery has always operated at 110% from my perspective and has been beyond my expectations. In fact, every time any of my vehicles has been serviced I have received it back impeccably detailed.

I've owned Jaguars, Mercedes, BMW, etc. - service levels have been abyssmal by comparison.

As such, this present issue suggests to me that there is more to this story (perhaps transporting, etc.). Nothing leaves Zahir's shop with swirls.

I also want to throw in my two cents worth... I have taken my well used, high mileage 328 to ZR to be detailed more than once. I have been amazed each time I get it back with how great it looks, especially given how little Maurice has to work from. I also find this thread interesting because 550 / 575's are my favorite F cars and when the 550 in question was here I took my nephew over to look at it and while we were looking at it I showed him the swirls in the car and told him it was reasons like that I would never have a black car, too hard to keep looking good.

This you are not sure of as another Ferrari owner has told me that the same transport company that you used washed his car before delivery and swirled it and he told them never to wash it again. You on the other hand will not admit as you wanted to take advantage of my hospitality and kindness and inspite of going out of my way as you were my guest you thought you could get some more out of me. I read you very well when I met you in Monterey and it was loud and clear to me that your intentions were such. You have no experience in fine cars and how they should look and perform. This was obvious when we received you car totaly filthy. I was not born yesterday.

Zahir, I've have tried to keep this a private matter and yet you persist. Lets take a look your own posts, which is consistent with what you told me in private.

Your first story is that I did this myself, but since the car was inspected upon delivery that story didn't work out for you.

Now its the transport company's fault? Hmmm. I spoke to Andy at Autosport werks today, 303-460-9900, and I spoke to Donovan who was the driver, and they never washed the car in any way. All they did was pick up and delivery. I also spoke to Gerry at Western Distributing Transportation corp, 800-941-6222, who also confirms the car was never washed in any way. I've also got a call into Dino Guidagni, the president of Western Distributing Transportation corp, with a fleet of 225 trucks, been in business since 1977, to see if he has any comments he would like to add.

So now the car had swirls on it BEFORE you received it? I guess that since you admit to buffing the car with an orbital buffer, it couldn't have been done after it left your possession, so now the story changes once again.

Really? Take a look at the attached photos and lets see the filthy dirt and all the paint damage. I'm pretty sure thats you in the photograph next to my car, the exact hour that it was delivered to us at the track. Fchat only allows 800x600 resolution, but I have 5 megapixel versions that show every nook and cranny of the mirror finish on the car. Just in case you think that picture shows some dirt on the fender, zooming into the hires version will show that is the reflection of the ground itself.

Now you're just making stuff up.

I know enough to retain the former curator of the Harrahs car collection who personally hand washes both of my Ferraris on a weekly basis for the last 2 years. He has 19 years of experience and works with one of a kind automobiles on a daily basis. He has been the sole person responsible for maintaining the mirror finish on my car, and since it only had a few thousand miles on it thats not too hard. Tony took possession of the car when it was delivered. He is eager to talk with you as well.

Zahir, I cannot keep up with all your story changes and web of finger pointing. If you had taken the effort to discuss this with me in the first place, you would have known all this already. It is at your request I provide this information publically.

These are the same guys that swirled Peter Taylors car and were warned never to wash his cars again. How about that!!!!!!!!!!

You expect a transport company to acknowledge their mistake? I have yet ONE customer to ever compalin on my detail work and liek Orin says I have high standars and my customers cars do not leave my shop with swirls. I take great pride in my work.

I have been in through ZR a few times now and every time I'm there I see that fellow in the back polishing a car to perfection. For how well they guard the showrrom cars, I doubt anyone there treats customers vehicles any less.

well said................the guy is insured, let him call his insurance company and let them investigate....

stop pointing fingers at people who are examples of perfection in the car industry.

you are damaging your own rep. here....dont think z.r will buckle under public pressure.... he is not the type to....

turn the page .... get it wet sanded and polished.... it will probably look better than it ever looked.

    good luck.
