    LOS ANGELES (May 27) - Eddie Albert, the actor best known as the constantly befuddled city slicker-turned-farmer in television's "Green Acres," has died. He was 99.


    I loved Green Acres when I was about ten years old.

    I was mostly just trying to make Pete feel old, I'm vaguely aware of it but I have not ever seen Green Acres, nor Saturday Night Live or quite a few other things that most people apparently take for granted. I saw Star Wars for the first time when it was re-released a few years ago.

    Thanks, I feel 99 now! Green Acres was during the same time as Pettycoat Junction. For you that have seen it, the water tower in the show's bumper is 15 miles from my house in Jamestown, CA., where Elie Nessler shot her X in the town courthouse.

    I met his once on a plane about 15 years ago. I'm surprised he was 99, I would have guessed 85 by now.

    Though I'm not as multilingual, I am a distant cousin of the squealer who played Arnold on the show.

    Green Acres was spun off from Petticoat Junction. For me, it was a great introduction to surreal comedy.

    I heard he was an inventor.

    I heard he invented that little toy bird that you attach to the rim of a glass and it bobs down and drinks some water and then comes up and keeps doing it for some obscure scientific reason.

    I heard he also invented some part of a guidance system for a torpedo.
