Happy New year ! Certainly is for me, and not the least reason for said feelings of elation could be the 328 GTS I got for Christmas. What a great car! Not my first sportscar, but a sophisticated machine to be sure. I always liked Ferraris but could never decide which model I liked best. Anyway, got some help making up my mind and here we are.
I know very little about these cars. I never realized all of the subtle differences in the various 3x8 models. I have spent the past few days reading several pages of threads here and have learned a LOT ! Thanks !
I have a couple of questions but hesitate to incorporate them into my howdy doody initial post on the 3x8 forum.
    Still reading...
    Johan

    ps
is there a way to adjust the steering wheel ?
Just kidding, I like it where it is!

Had a big grin driving it and it lit up the garage nicely with the lights. I can't really make out my face in the mirror. It actually looks like I have an elbow for a face or some sort of growth over my eye, but I don't. Well I have to check but I don't think I do.
The car is RED, so if this is a rare color let me know and I am happy to post better pictures so that you can see what a red one looks like !

Excellent and welcome. You have what some consider to be the most reliable Ferrari, enjoy it and look through the stickies at the top of this section. You can read about repairing your own car, fun to read and good pictures even if you don't want to do your own work.

Yes, I have been reading these threads for years. Never could decide what kind of Ferrari I liked the best. Even been to a couple FCA track days and still could not pick a favorite. This car is an 88 and very special to me.
9 1/2 years ago I was at a race track and my wife called at 3:30 in the morning and said our son was about to be born 2 weeks early. She said I had to get there before her mother. It was normally a 5 hour drive. I woke up a friend also doing the track event and asked if I could borrow his Ferrari to drive to the Hospital as my Excursion was hooked to a trailer. He said "Sure".
The heat was on the whole way and I did not know how to turn it off. I had no idea where to put the gas, so glad it was full. I ran out of gas in the hospital parking lot after making the trip in 2 hours and 37 minutes, beating my boy by 19 minutes !
It was nice of him to lend the car that night, and it was also nice of him to offer it to the guy that won the only race it was ever in when he decided it needed a new home!

Red isn't all that rare, but that's beside the point. 328s are great to drive and super distinctive in a world of modern jellybean cars.

    Enjoy.

I know...I was kidding. I should have put a smiley. Am I correct in thinking that you have recently redone your interior? I have been reading the forum. You did a nice job. You did not like the dye results, right ?

At the risk of sounding like Enzo, how about a VIN and production date?

It was redone, yes, by Symbolic in San Diego - I've since sold the car.

Re-dyeing is not a good way to go for restoration. It is OK for spot touch-ups but once you've got dye in the stitching it never looks original. A previous owner of my 328 had ruined the seats, doors and console with Leatherique, so I had a proper restoration done in 2007. After that it won 4 major concours trophies in 2 years.

I wouldn't go the dye route for a "keeper" 328. Live with the patina, or do it right.

    Thanks

That should put it in the 777xx to 779xx VIN range. Mind if we know which one?

Could you also tell me what color(s) ther rear 328 GTS emblems are and if the bottom of the front luggage lid is painted body color?

That's the same month as mine - June 88 VIN number 77858 no ABS and rear lid underside is painted flat black not body colour (what is the significance of that by the way?). Whats your vin number maybe we're (closely) related?

    cheers
