Guys, I am thinking of picking up an FF. Local dealer as a Neiman Marcus edition 2012 with 6K miles listed at 165K

Objectively what you guys are thinking is a good offer for this car? no CF inside nor steering wheel.

Also is there any value coming from the "special edition"

Subjectively: What do you think of the exterior color?

I saw that FF pop up on Cars.com a few days ago and I think it's stunning, and a steal of a deal. To my eye, it has a little Grigio Ingrid to it, which I think is one of the prettiest colors in Ferrari land.

The interior though I would have to check in person if it were me. Some of the pics make it look orange, while others a richer cuoio, almost like a baseball glove. If the latter, yummy!

I can't tell if seats are ventilated. Does not appear so.

Rear seat entertainment. Great for the kids.

It claims to have a dedication plate in silver, but didn't see that. Can that be changed?

Driver bolster written a bit, but hey, that means it's been driven, not sitting.

Contrast diamond stitching. I'm a fan!

The sales rep send me a picture from his phone and it looked a bit more grey then on the website pictures where it seems to have more brown in it.

I am going to try to go see it this afternoon.

Does it come with the matching set of Neiman Marcus FF luggage set? I believe there was one NM edition down in Florida with the luggage set.

    I drove/saw the car yesterday.

Paint: I like the color, not sure I would have bought it like that but it reminds me of the Nissan Maxima color :( a little bit.
The paint changes color depending on the sun. It has some military green in it. Pretty cool.

Price: the GM immediately told me it was on consignment and he knows the seller's bottom number, and hinted that high 150's would do. the car has 6100 miles, 2012.
The 7 year maintenance ends in 10/18.

My impression: I was underwhelmed with the cabin and the drive/power. I like the value proposition of a modern Ferrari at 150k

I read everywhere the cabin is beautiful, that it makes the driver feel special. To me it was OK not a negative for a sports car but not a positive neither. This car didn't have any CF, I am sure this would have definitely help.

I was expecting much more acceleration from the car. Yes 2nd gear at 6.5K it goes but I was expecting more.
With the traction control off, in 1st gear the tires wouldn't slip at all, I get it is a GT 4WD but was expecting a bit more extravagance from a 650hp car.
I was always more of a turbo guy and always found NA cars / linear to give me less. A friend of mine told me that this may be the problem it may seem to me slower but is in fact quick.

Overall not sure the car is for me. Maybe I need to spend more time with it to better understand the car. I do like the value proposition of the car tho.

Where do you think these cars will drop value wise?

It sounds to me this isn't the car for you. For that money you should be overwhelmingly loving it. For the kind of power you want, maybe something like a Nissan GTR is in order?

Yup, that's the one I saw.

CF and NM usually don't mix. :)

The trend of value is always something we all like to know. What I really like to know is where it will bottom? Unfortunately, no one knows the answer, because it will be too easy that way.

Indeed, the owner might have forgotten about it. Squeeze out everything possible.

    Bummer.

So, in regards to your assessment, what other cars do you now own/haverecently owned? I would imagine that would greatly impact your viewpoint of the FF. However, as someone said above, at this price point if you are not "feeling it", if it were me, I would move on.

As far as depreciation, I would think the two previous V12 2+2's would be a good indicator - F456M and 612 (auto and F1 versus manual) - suitably adjusted for inflation.

    I own(ed) a few cars but never a Ferrari. Daily drive is a S550, Mclaren 650s (very fast), 993TT
    owned 997TT and more.

I had a E90 m3 with a beautiful NA v8 and had that same feeling of "not a lot of power" but still bought the car and ended up learning to enjoy it (more revving).

I have been thinking about the car since I drove it so we will see.

^ Those are very nice cars. You will know it when you drive "the one". Good luck in your hunt.

Maybe get the new Challenger SRT Demon? Might just be enough power. You can get it in red - that's pretty Ferrari-like, right?

Ferraris are all about higher revving horsepower motors rather than low torque. Most Ferraris I've driven are happy at around 4000 RPM and on ward. Your S550 is definitely about low-mid range torque. McLaren 650S is a really fast car with that turbo midrange shove. Ferrari you will have to really rev it. The FF is not a light car. So you have probably saddled the power of your 650 with something like 1,200 extra pounds! And in a car with roughly the same peak torque. And I bet your S550 has similar torque- and a weight not too far off the FF.... So its no wonder why you say what you do. You really would have to be on the FF really hard. And its clear to me you like that big torque feeling rather than the linear power building. That linear power thing is very much what Ferrari does.

If you want to look at Ferraris, based on your comments so far, I would suggest probably the F12. A bit more power and a little lighter than the FF. Just keep in mind Ferraris are really not about absolute power. They are about the whole experience. Sure, they make powerful motors, and wonderful sounding, and smooth, etc. But its the whole package. If it doesn't do it for you, thats fine.

Keeping in mind that color is simply going to be pure personal preference... I think its not a bad color, but I don't love it. I don't think there's anything wrong with it though. I will note that you will find selling the car a little more difficult because it lacks shields. Its silly, but that is the state of the marketplace. No shields = a harder sale. That's partly why this car seems to be a pretty good deal. People will pass on the car and then say because it doesn't have shields.

Looks are personal. I don't love the look of that build, rather "dry" and austere ... but ... the car has tons of power. You had it in SPORT and ESC OFF and you drove it for a while? 3.5 sec to 60 is not enough for you? I can assure you the car is balls out fast and will slip if you want it to. It's not meant to be a race car however, it's a daily with power to spare.

Did you do 50-150? That's a ton of fun.

I'm guessing the owner babied it and it's "learned" to be slow. Once the car is driven aggressively for 100 miles it learns to be fast. I drop gears with light pedal in sport.

If you like it, that is a great number for a 6k mile FF. Although carbon and the LEDs are really a lot of fun and a great look.

If you are inclined, drive it again, and see what you think. Add 4 PSI to the tires while you're there. Go SPORT mode with the Bumpy Road button for most of your driving, that's a normal daily setting for many. Turn off the AUTO and let it rip.

In 2-3 weeks you will know. Don't buy anything for a few weeks. Look around. Enjoy.

Thank you- It seems like it was getting better towards the end of the 10 min drive.
You are right 3.5 sec is more then enough, but my issue was more sensation/feeling of acceleration didn't match the numbers, you know what I mean.
Maybe this particular car had issues, you can tell it has been sitting for a while.

I have been thinking about the car quite a bit, I found a black / cuio from a forum member that I like with lots of CF and a year newer and the nicer wheels.
