Hello, what do you guys think about this colour, im 99% sure that im gonna paint my projectcar in this colour... Im a big fan of deep antracite colours...... so am i making the good choice? Thankyou for your input..
would help if you gave us an example... it depends on the project car..which is it?? I would keep the refined colors to the more refined vehicles.
I love it......it's my favorite. Both my current Ferraris, a Scuderia and a F430 are in Grigio Silverstone.
My favorite color and the color of my 612. How can a Ferrari look sedate. The machine stands for quality and would look good in any color you like.
one thing i do still like, a lot, about silverstone is if you get the challenge grill in carbon it really works well with the silverstone compared to other colors.
Both my 430 Spider and my Mercedes CLS63 are that color. (Mercedes calls it Designo Graphite as a special option on the car). The pair together look amazing. I have never received feedback declaring the color too understated for a Ferrari. In fact, it's just the opposite. Most people feel the lines of the car are so aggressive and sexy that the color gives balance to the car. Whatever, I love it and if you do too, go for it. Can't make everyone happy so just please yourself. Image Unavailable, Please Login
...is gorgeous, do it! i am a big, big fan of f-cars being done up in understated colours. while there will always be a place in the universe for red and yellow ferraris, a gs ferrari is just that bit classier. imho.
I recently did a pair of "new" prep details on two Ferrari's in this color. I think this is an amazing paint color (personal opinion of course) but, as with 99% of all new Ferraris, it just doesn't look good from the factory. After spending about 12 hours correcting the new paint and jeweling it to bring out the highest gloss possible, the color really took on a life of its own. Here are a couple photo's of Grigio Silverstone perfected, it's quite stunning. Unfortunately, one of the coolest aspects of this paint once it is really perfect is how it changes colors when the sun comes out and metal flake really pops. The pictures I took where mostly under cloud coverage, though I was able to get in the last photo to show the "bronzing" effect of the sun on the color. Thx for your inputs.. Car is e E36 M3 , with supercharger .. 550BHP @ the crank, 0 - 120 mph in 10 secs colour now is Grigio Silver from Fiat, had it repainted a year ago... but i really like the dark colours beter..
I don't 'get' it...if the lines of the car are aggressive and sexy, why do you (and, apparently, a few others here) feel the need to 'balance' them? You don't LIKE aggressive and sexy?
I like aggressive and sexy when it comes to women. IMHO, the 430 in a rich color (GS) vs. a bright color ( red or yellow) does it better justice. Obviously many here have other preferences which is why Ferrari sells so many cars in diff. colors. To each their own.
I think it'll look great. Plain silver is starting to look like an appliance color to me -- too common. I like darker colors, in general. I've seen GS on an F430 Spider, and as others have posted it's a sophisticated color. My favorite overall is still black metallic -- I think it's more assertive than dark grey, but not maintenance suicide like pure black.
I remember seeing a pic of a 599 GTB here on F-Chat, it was taken at some sort of car show or 'gala event', and it was a flat, lite pale gray color, almost 'pastel' looking. Almost a throwback to the early GT cars from the 50's. Extremely rare IIRC.......... if anyone knows the name of it, or has any pics of it?
